14 Replies and 2967 Views Single of the Year  2967  14 Started by  Binokular This thread was inspired by Q2s' Album/Gig of the year thread. Albums are great, but people tend to be a little more adventurous with the singles they buy. What single released this year was the most outstanding for you and why Try to pick just one! for me, it would have to be: Radioactive Man featuring Valerie Trebeljahr - Fedex to Munchen. I already loved Valerie Trebeljahrs work with Lali Puna, her voice is reminiscent of Nico from Nico and the Velvet Underground, but hearing it ba...

22 Replies and 6632 Views Album/gig of the year?  6632  22 Started by  Q2 2003 is near its end folks, what were the albums/gigs of the year for you My albums of the year are: Mumblin Deaf Ro - Senor My Friend The White Stripes - Elephant Settler - Life Upstream (though I think that was released late last year, I'm not sure) Biggest disappointments for me personally were Welcome to The Monkey House by the Dandy Warhols (just overused sound effects mostly) and the re-release of Sleeping With Ghosts by Placebo (although the bonus disc full of covers is prett...

0 Replies and 1499 Views Tycho's on Friday.  1499  0 Started by  MullyFive0 I like the idea of Midnight at the Olympia having original acts play instead of the Stars in their Eyes rejects that seems to contineuosly play the venue. Nothing worse than going to a gig, and arranging to meet friends afterwards in a shiny, trendy bar (we all have friends who insist on having nights out in these places) only for a door monkey not to let you in. This way, it can be pints with mates early doors, then off to the gig. Everyones is a winner. Super bonus points to the manager...

22 Replies and 5703 Views Dead Singers Rise  5703  22 Started by  Dromed I was tryin to organise going to see the Doors in Paris recently, largely due to the fact that Ryanair were sellin tickets to Paris-Beauvais for €1 either way up to last night. But every one I know that would be in to going is either too broke or can't get the time off work...anyway a few people made the point that it's not the same thing when there's someone else standing in place of a dead singer In this case i thought it quite poignant that the Doors were to play Paris, Jim's final resting ...

14 Replies and 4282 Views Michael Jackson - Guilty or Not Guilty?  4282  14 Started by  Q2 So, once again Wacko Jacko is being hauled in for child abuse claims. What do you think folks, is he a perv or not Personally, I find it a bit coincidental that his new album is about to released and this has come up. The circumstances are a bit too similar to the allegations put against him in the early 90s. It's quite possible that he's a pervert, and that TV documentary earlier this year will not help him here. God knows he's not 'normal' but then again after the childhood and life he's...

0 Replies and 1552 Views IU CD leads to TV...  1552  0 Started by  irishunsigned The 'Pharaoh House Crash' track that appeared on the first Irish Unsigned CD, 'Scene Unheard', is to be used in the TV programme, 'Bachelors Walk', (Mondays, 9.30, RTE2) for three weeks from November 24th - this week coming. The band made quite a few contacts through the IU CD, and one of them, the DJ Gavan Kierans, suggested the song to the programmes producers. The storyline is that the character 'Barry', who works in a recording studio, discovers a band called 'The Margins' and decides ...
