How Much Do You Spend on Music? 3605 11
Started by Idiot Kid
Before this year I would say, on average, that I bought around 100 cd's every year. Once pay day came I would usually buy about 8-10 cd's, depending on what caught my attention or not. This year I splashed out and bought a fancy new stereo (Mrs. Kid got a new sitting room so I had to have my piece too) that came with a record player and so I've started to buy lots of old music on vinyl as well as new stuff and I reckon I've spent around €2,000 on music this year alone!
I'm sure there ...

Luke Leighfield in Ireland 2209 0
Started by lukeleighfield
Hey,
I'm coming over to Ireland to play a few gigs in the near future and I'm trying to find a few more promoters to put me on, or people who will let me play a gig in their house. I already have a few gigs sorted but it's really expensive to come over so the more places I can play, the better!
You can have a listen to my music here - www.myspace.com/simplylukeleighfield
Essentially I play piano pop and I've supported people like Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Sam Isaac, Scouting F...

Top 5 gigs? 3848 17
Started by whiterob81
Following on from last week's thread about gigs you regret going to. I thought maybe we should remind ourselves of why we go to gigs in the first place. My top 5:
Manic Street Preachers - (Thurles 97. The heavens opened up halfway through their set but that just seemed to make the crowd go more insane. They blew the main act The Prodigy off stage)
U2 - (Slane 2001. I went to the first night they played. Fantastic gig)
The Flaming Lips - (Wittness 2003 - Opened with Wayne Coyne singi...

......the new Hold Steady album. Cracking band, great lyricist. Top notch live outfit as well.
Sadly, the new CSS album hasn't enthralled me the way their debut did, though further listens might help

Shit, having breathed a sigh of relief that Bon Iver and Okkervil River weren't playing the same night, I now discover that Okkervil River clashes with Fleet Foxes on Nov. 7th. No contest for me - Okkervil River it is which means I'll have a spare Fleet Foxes ticket. Sold out isn't it

playing live music in dublin 3170 7
Started by soulmeetsbody
I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Southern California planning on taking a 2 week trip to Ireland in October. I would like to bring my guitar with me and play music at open mics or other live music events in Dublin. This would be just for fun and to meet people, I'm not looking for a paid gig. I was wondering if anyone has any tips about playing live music around Ireland as a tourist and any suggestions on:
1.Traveling with an acoustic guitar
2. Places to play
3. Anything I sh...

Instructions: Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. It's just a bit of fun so NO CHEATING.
How does the world see you Don't Leave Me This Way - The Communards
