there are apparently a few extra tents - the big tree stage (damien rice's stage) and another stage (radiator are providing some of the acts), but i'm not sure if they'll be on the main line-up... anyone any clue? on the EP board they name off lots of bands playing both. should be a some mad feens hanging out in the less well known sections...

Gnarls Barkley has had to cancel their appearance at next weekend's Electric Picnic festival at the last moment. Due to non-stop performances for the last 3 months, Cee-Lo has put a great strain on his vocal chords and has been advised to cancel his next 5 shows or risk having more extensive problems.

Doesn't bother me really, couldn't care less to seem them or not but they say they're having problems finding a replacement ..... Paddy Casey anyone What it will probably mean is that two other acts I wanted to see will clash now, will have to wait for the timetable I suppose. These last minute cancellations at festivals are becoming quite popluar

Is it all starting to crumble now with many of the more interesting acts choosing to drop out?

I'm sorta happy they've dropped out. I'm not really into them but I'd probably have gone along to see them out of curiosity. Now I don't have to.

Yet another cancellation?? Hmmmmm. An already weak line-up is looking decidedly weaker. I can't go this year but the only essential, unmissable act on the bill that I'm missing is the peerless Mogwai.(No Matter, will see them at Royal Albert Hall in 4 weeks!!!!) Will watch on the telly! I think they will have to really pull out all the stops to improve the line-up for next year if EP is to survive in already overcrowded summer festival calendar. They need some major league headliners: this year they should have got Depeche Mode for saturday and Daft Punk to round things off on Sunday.

Basically, a lot of bands I want to see: Tapes, YYY, Rufus, The Boy least likely to, Tilly and the wall, Rapture, Archie bronson outfit, Massive Attack, Pj Harvey, Antony & the J's, Bloc Party, BSS, jIM nOIR, Jape, King Creosote, Russian Futurists, Long Blondes, Coldcut, Hot Chip, Elbow. That will do me nicely! There are also some more like New Order and The Ricer, how can you say that this is a bad line up.

Is no one going to see Belle and Sebastian either? 'cause, y'know, Belle and Sebastian! *edit: oops, I didn't see someone had already mentioned them. Still, I like seeing their name written down :) *

nice thing about Belle & Sebastian is they mix up the setlist, like the Ambassador gigs earlier in the year, they played very different setlists both nights.

ah bummer radiator tent is cancelled, thats a great opportunity for irish bands, pity its gone. (oh una, what i had seen (somewhere!) for the radiator tent were the urges, sickboy, maybe the mighty stef, basically a few of the rock solid radiator regulars, such a pity) as for bands to see, ooooh so many! the skatallites, amadou et mariam, dj shadow, that jape chap, super furry animals, yeah yeah yeahs, yo la tengo, and on and on and on! roll on the weekend...

eh mar, you might be better off getting off the aercoach in abbeyleix and getting a taxi across to stradbally. the heath isn't much use as you'll have to try and hitch from there which could be tricky. you could have a nice pint in morrissey's in abbeyleix (really nice olde-style pub) and ask there for taxi/cab numbers. enjoy!

Heading down myself, really looking forward to it. Few beers, friends and some music. I quite like the line up.
