I'm sorry, but what the f**k is McWilliams doing at a music festival? Would the Arctic Monkeys be invited to play live on Prime Time?

i'd say they would be. after all, they have been on BBC's Newsnight with Jeremy Paxman so whats another current affairs show for them? mcwilliams book is an ok read but gets way too irritating and clever-clever when he keeps on coming up with names for everyone (Cluas = Irish Cyber Pen-Pushers).

Newsnight has an Arts review once a week. Prime Time is just current affairs.

they were not on the Arts review ghetto - they were on the main show. Back in January, when the album came out

McWilliams has MCd Leviathan before, so it´s not that unusual that he´s there. As for the feature itself of discussing current affairs wit a liddle bit o comedy at a music festival? It seems like Electric Picnic is collectively smoking crack at this point in time.

or maybe wants to be like that new fest in the UK, Latitude - http://www.latitudefestival.co.uk surely the point of a festival is you can ignore the stuff u dont want to see? i'd be a lot more cross if there was loads and loads of must-see stuff on at the same time. the best thing bout the Picnic last year was just wandering around, catching stuff on spec. the same will probably apply this year - although, in fairness, theres a lot more to avoid (Mundy, Frames, Damien Rice chiefly - this year's James Blunt)

I saw DJ Shadow on Friday at Sonar, and it´s NOT a DJ Shadow gig. The tour is "DJ Shadow presents..." and basically it´s just Shadow DJing under some of the s**ttest rappers I´ve ever encountered. Shadow had to apologise to the crowd, saying "I guess you guys didn´t read the ticket" and then did two of his own tunes. But the gist of it was Shadow playing Notorious BIG tracks and these whoareyiz rapping over it. Absolutely awful.
Were the two MC's in question Keak Da Sneak & Turf Talk? They both appeared on Shadow's last single 3 Freaks. You can check the tune out on the media player on his website www.djshadow.com, but to be honest I wouldn't bother. It's pretty sh*t. I don't know why Shadow bothers working with these clowns when his own Quannum crew contains two of the best MCs in the world; Lyrics Born & Gift of Gab. However if Shadow's going to be playing live than he's probably going to be doing it with the two fools off his last single so I'd give him a miss. If he's going to be playing a DJ set than I'd probably give him a miss as well. He's not on the same funk 45 buzz that he was a couple of years ago when he was doing his Product Placement and Brain Freeze tours with Cut Chemist. Nowadays he's all about the Dirty South and he's playing a lot of crunked up b*llocks.

Very nervous here. My Morning Jacket have disappeared from the Electric Picnic poster. They were the act I was most excited about seeing once they confirmed. If this clip doesn't get you excited, nothing will. I hope they haven't cancelled: http://www.stereogum.com/archives/002736.html

Im´not sure Stroller. When I first walked in on the set, me and my mate thought it was Ugly Duckling. If you watched it, you wouldn´t even know Shadow was DJing because it was pretty much just playing tracks for four or five idiots to rap over. No flow whatsoever. It was all´"stick your middle finger in the air / when I say hip you say hop" really lame s**t.

Don't tell me that you've got a problem with Ugly Duckling as well. If you want to hear some new DJ Shadow material you can check out the afore mentioned 3 Freaks track here; http://www.scissorkick.com/blog/music/DJshadow_3Freaks.mp3 and his new track with David Banner here; http://palmsout.com/blog/Seeing%20Thangs.mp3 And this is what the man himself is saying about his new direction on his upcoming album; "Stylistically, it's very different from The Private Press. Some have said “Press” was an inward-looking album. If that’s true, than this album is the opposite, and that suits me just fine. I’ve also stopped worrying if my changing taste in music costs me fans; life’s too short to live in anyone’s box, especially if that box is constraining your shine. Case in point: cats who tried to goal tend “3 Freaks” without knowing anything about Bay music or its history, even as the song was on its way to classic status among those who actually support and create Bay music. What does that prove? I believe it proves that sometimes you’ve got to clean house. It’s something that all artists I admire have done at one time or another, be it Neil Young, Marvin Gaye, or whoever. You can’t please everybody all the time, but you can please yourself. So go ahead and hate me now, you’ll love me for it later." ...oh dear.

They're an amazing act live. Saw them a few years ago in TBMC and it was a superb gig. Pure, unadulterated fuzzy rock 'n roll joy. Jim James came out at the end and did three tunes solo and omfg that guy can sing. I, too, would love to see them live again. Crackin' stuff. Any sign of Howe Gelb or Giant Sand comin' over to these parts? I know Gelb was in the UK with the Sno' Angel Like You gospel choir that sang on the album. Don't why i'm asking this in the EP post, just kind of came into my head. Anyhoo ...

God Damn when I heard MMJ were on the lineup I was so excited about finally seeing them! Last time they were over here I was in chicago so I've never seen em live despite there reputation for putting on an outstanding show. They are playin Edinburgh on the 25th of August so I might head over then to see them

Gutted about MMJ. But very excited about seeing Howe Gelb in Benicassim though. Friend was at UK show recently and reckons it was one of the best shows he ever saw.Absolutely love Sno Angel.Let's hope he plays Dublin too-Excuse me- I digress-this is an EP thread!!
