I might be coming across through my last few posts as a die-hard Frames fan. I'm not but I still think that they are a mighty fine band. Regarding the new album: It takes alot of listens and it more downbeat than previous stuff, but it is an album of perfect structure and poetically vibrant songs that have moody imagery. A decent album that proves just how much The Frames want to move on.

They want to move on but apparently in front of a bad crowd on friday in Cork they got all pissy and did the "God Bless Mom", "Pavement Tune" set that they've been trotting out for 5 years.

Well, now, folks, it certainly appears that the paint IS drying, after all!

The album is defiantely a slow burner. It lacks , to me, the urgency of previous releases. However, it's a dense record. There's alot going on under Glens voice and it turns sharply in many different drections. Whilst not containing much more in the line of poppy radio hits (Fake and Finally exluded). And dream awake is their finest song yet

I read Brian Farrelly's review of The Frames gig in Vicar Street and I think it was a bit harsh. Every band will play it's new material if they have just released a new album. I knew The Frames would play a good bit of Burn the Maps so I made sure to buy the album when it was released on the Friday. I thought it was a bloody good gig regardless of the fact that they played all of the new album. It would be a pain in the arse to have them play Set List every time you went to see them. New material is always welcome and Burn the Maps is a bloody good listen.

Ahh, come on now. There are much better Irish bands out there, like.........eh........like..........JJ72 and eh.............Johnny Pullback and the Four Skins. On a serious note though, don't you think they're probably just a wee bit overrated???

HAve to agree with you, after much anticipation Burn The Maps was a major let down. I wouldn't say it was piss but it's not great. There's a few good ones on there like Locusts, Dream Awake, Happy, but it just seems to be overshadowed by this commercialised all to happy and pop for my liking. Kinda feels a bit like they sold out just for a little media attention. Fair enough they've workedfor over a decade for this but still...not their finest moment!

hey, in my humble opinion, the frames are completely over rated and to add insult to injury i think Glen Hansard is one of the most self indulgent, ego-driven individual.

Have you met Glen, Robby? I'm not being smart but is this opinion formed from personal experience?
