Lou Rhodes used to be in Lamb. No, I don't know what her album like.

now now stroller. I didn't really like the Scritti Politti album because I couldn't stand the vocals, but I'll give it another go. Haven't heard of Zoe Rahman or Lou Rhodes - is this bad? Sway's record is awesome, you should check it out. He won best hip hop artist at the MOBO's even though he wasn't signed, which is a pretty major achievement. There's been a buzz about him for ages. I picked up a CD of his in London a couple of years ago (the first This Is My Promo one) and pretty much forgot about it until the album hype started last year. It's pretty eclectic stuff - grime, pop/soul, hip hop and lyrically he's fantastic. www.myspace.com/swaydasafo

I think she was never mad into the drum and bass influenced early Lamb tracks, even though that's far and away their best stuff, especially their debut album 'Lamb' The aforementioned Gorecki and Cotton Wool are superb but also Lusty, Closer and Feela - the way they combined those beats, strings and Lou Rhode's enchanting voice That debut album of theirs still sounds great a decade on I have Uaneen Fitzsimons to thank for introducing me to them through No Disco

Yeah, I remember Uaneen played 'Gorecki' and I went out and bought the album the next day, back in 1997!! FCUK!!! Don't remember any official announcement that Lamb had split though. Don't think they ever really bettered that album.

I have to agree with Una. I'm really not feeling Plan B either.
i'll join that club too, very poor album
Benni - am with you on this one Haven't heard the album yet, just a few tracks so far but am genuinely impressed I used to live close to his part of London (Forest Gate) and maybe that's why I'm getting more out of it, but I think his lyrics are great, clever, sharp and at times very very funny 'Write about what you know' is what they say - and he does it and IMHO does it very well Musically too, have to say I really like the tunes 'No More Eatin for you now', is the most powerful, most hate filled, most intense piece of work I've heard this year I think there has been a lot of media hype bigging him up, but for me he more than justiies the hype

a very good article by brian boyd in the ticket today on the mercury music prize... ...apart from his classification of which albums are excellent or very good, i just about 100% agree with every other word he's written
