is it just my imagination or are the EP people being really slow with announcements about whos playing? I think its the same with Oxegen - at least in their case, they have the ticket money in the bank and can go around booking acts like Aslan and the Manchester Stone Roses - but you'd think EP would be putting out names good-o to sell those tickets

is it possible EP have most of their money in the bank as well at this stage? I think they must have a lot of tickets sold cos as you say they aren't exactly trying to push it with adds or more announcements.

The announcements have been pretty slow (maybe waiting for acts to finish their own tours before signing up to an end of summer festival), but there is a full page ad for it in most publications these days. It still lacks a real big headliner.

maybe the reason is ...and i've heard from someone working in mcd...that they are trying to run EP into the ground and are telling any bands that if they play EP it will be there last festival in europe!! as they part run and have shares in most of the other festivals in europe...and this is causing EP to pay 3 times the asking price for most bands to get them to play!!..think this is the reason why they are slow to announce new bands...or maybe they are still trying to get bands to play!!

its funny cos she's now on the poster on the front page over on the EP site but theres no formal announcement about it. there seems to be a real cluelessness about how EP are doing things this year and I think it may have to do with what comet said earlier - they know its going to be a sell-out so the annoucements and big names are slower in coming.

I've said this already but the organisers (Aiken & Pod) are concentrating on promoting their Garden Party event at the moment. As soon as that gig has taken place they've got a full three months to push Electric Picnic.

There was a soft rumour going around that Depeche Mode were gonna play EP - still holding on to some hope for that one, but it's looking less and less likely :(

yeah, I heard that Depeche Mode rumour, but they're playing the Point quite near the EP date, so I would be surprised to see them added though.

I was talking to a friend who works in a ticket master outlet and he claims that there's only about four thousand tickets left. If they're that close to selling out I doubt that they'll add too many more big acts to the bill.

What annoyed me about EP was that it was promoted as a 3 day festival this year then i find out last week that the muscic doesn't start till 6pm on Friday, bit of a con job.
