hope anyone who saw them last night in whealans was just as blown away as i was. They are one of the few bands in dublin who doesnt rely on a image and who are out there trying to do their own thing. Probably my fave band in dublin. The sound last night was amazing, ive never enjoyed a unsigned band so much. The crowd was a bit s**t though, typical s**te though i suppose when much of the crowd is probably friends and family, talking on their phones and not getting the music. Ive seen the lads support mylo and the crowd was much better, everyone dancing away in their own little world like it should be. On one hand channel 1 are a band u wanna rock out and dance with but then they have some tunes that are a bit singy singy if ya know what i mean. The singy singy vibe ruins this band for me but thats just my taste, im sure alot of heads would want more of this. In the music centre gig the crowd was dancing one minute and then sitting down the next, while the crowd last night would have been happy with just standing there like statues waiting for more songs with singing. I felt that the songs without singing when the lads were just getting into it with their eyes closed and loosing themselves were far better than the songs with singing. Thats just me though, on the way out i heard a girl saying they should have more songs with singing, i dunno. It just feels that there is 2 different bands on stage. One of these bands is the Best band in the country at the moment and probably for a long time. They put many of the higher profile acts to shame to be honest. Dont get me wrong, the lads got a great response last night, big cheers alround. I just feel this is the band who should be playing in the dance tent at oxegen, not to a whealans crowd who wouldnt even nod their f**king head. Hope the lads go far and get whats coming to them cos something will very soon. Finaly Music that means something. f**k the rest of the trendy bands in Dublin

Do you think Channel 1 are threatened in some way by "the rest of the trendy bands in Dublin". Are these other bands in some way impeding on your general life ? Can bands not coexist in Dublin without this rivalry If channel 1 are as good as you state they are, then, when in a couple of years time when they are as trendy as these other bands, and when they are receiving as much media attention as these other bands, will you be sitting down to reply to a post on cluas where some one says they have found a great irish band to support and f**k the rest of these trendy irish bands, where channel 1 are included ?

Good point Klootfan, and why the focus on Dublin? Theres a whole world of bands out there, being the best band in Dublin means little when thanks to the internet its just as easy to stumble across a band from Berlin (or Barnsley), yet I don't think most musicians would see this "competition" as a threat, if anything its really positive by raising peoples creative aspirations. Its music folks, not an olympic sport! CH-1 are a great band, and my favourite unsigned Irish band at the moment. I wish them well, but any success they have won't be to the detriment of other Dublin bands.

I have heard of Channel 1, but only through word of mouth. I remind you, "Whome", that music, bands, thought process and logic with regard to your favourite bands are, opinions & expressions you feel strongly about due to an often good understanding of what a group is about or more often then not, because you deem the act in question to be earth shattering & significant in your world, which is a good thing! I too have been guilty of over indulging in the past with regard to the band I manage. There are alot of bands in this country now who deserve to "go far". I can think of about 10 bands right now who I think will go far but the "f**k the rest of the trendy bands in dublin" quote is just going to wind people up & also portray to people on this chat forum, that you have an affiliation of some sort to Channel 1. You speak of them very highly in a way which suggests bigging them up as opposed to crtically reviewing them. I am not trying to start a blow up with you and I rarely enter into these kind of potential minefield debates but might i suggest that Channel 1 are possibly not the only band deserving of "what's coming to them..."? In a positive light i mean. Best Carlsberg

jeeeeeeeez, relax. Yes, its is my personal view I love many bands in dublin, i didnt say to disregard them all, just the bands that have a image and no substance. I did use the word "trendy", not "all" I know none of the lads or have anything to do with the band. I came into work today with the gig still banging in my head. Just wanted to spread the enthusiasim i have for the band, ill know better next time that its not acceptable, sorry if i offended anyone, NOT! My last line in my post was supposed to mean that this band appear "TO ME" to be all about the music and there are other bands in Dublin always being talked about and in "MY OPINION" there is no music to back them up. I know Channel-1 arent the only great band in dublin, check out CPU. By trendy i didnt mean popular, i meant bands that try to be TRENDY with no music to back them up. Am i explaining myself here or is my hangover a bigger curse than i thought

Carlsberg, i did criticise them. I said i that i didnt like the songs with singing in them, re read what i wrote and you will clearly see that i said what i did and did not like about them. I said Ch-1 were 2 bands, one of which i really like. Also, if it was YOUR bands gig that i was "Bigging up", would you still reply to my original post at how i was so wrong to post in this manner with such enthusiasim.

i kinda overlooked the tracks with the singing on them at first cause their instrumental track Fun Radio is so brilliant but i really like the the other tracks i've heard since and the vocals really suit the sound. They'd a song available on the site recently "Release" which is fking great. Remind me of Interpol in parts along with the electronic shoe gazer sound. Best band i've discovered on CPU and they should go far.
