I know it's Eoghans site and i know its a discussion board but that is seriously not cool. How can a "discussion" board that offers a place for relative "free" speech have a topic shut down. After all, arent discussion boards supposed to bring people together in a social context. I think it's interesting that the topic was closed. I also find it wrong. When people go out on the batter with friends, they dont always have long discussions about what relevance keats has when compared to the relevance of the next crap irish band to take the stage for a week. They play games like this. Its a forum. And not the only one I go to. I just find it a little dis-heartening that a place of "freedom" would be controlled that harshly. And I find it a little pathetic. Whats next? No more Top 5 lists? Hmmmm?

Optimus. That's much more like it. Getting a discussion started about what this board should be about? What should be allowed? What should not? Nice one. A far more valuable and interesting set of postings are likely to follow. And I'll sit back and watch it unfold with interest, take on board what suggestions might be floated, then decide in a reasonable fashion what, if any, changes in my moderating style are necessary. Deal? Hey, if yiz want I'd be more than happy to set up a new discussion forum for playing around with such games. We could call it the 'Playground' or something. In the meantime one suggestion: I see you approve of the potential of discussion boards to bring people together in a social context. Now such a context is virtual, so why not take it a step further and make that social context a real one, maybe even down the pub? Yeah, feel absolutely free to set up a meet up for people on the discussion board if you're up for it. We arrange (not so) regular meet-ups for the writers, nothing to stop you - or anyone else for that matter - doing the same for board members. And then you can play the game ad infintum without having to worry about hitting any "reply to topic" links each time you've, er, worked out a song title that begins with the same word as the previous one finished with. And you say that what I did is "seriously not cool" and a "little pathetic"? Hey, if you'd ever met me you wouldn't sound so surprised. eoghan

I agree with Eoghan to a cetain extent, now I know I was invlved in the game, but it is about discussion, and then on the other hand, it was a bit fun. The only danger in having things like that is that the essage board degenerates into something like the frames one or something where it just a complete waste of time going to it ebcause it's full of, well, people with nothing to say. So it's just a bit of give and take needed here.

as the crazy man in washington with his finger on the button might say "clearly these people hate freeduhm." gotta say games like that are cool and all but i prefer reading opinions and arguments about music. even if it can sometimes stress me out! ;) plus it seemed that people were using the web to look for some songs names, which is cheating! at least in the pub you cant (easily) cheat at a game like that!
