People piss and moan about how little Babyshambles have done, when their musical output is far more than most bands who only have one album - just check out their website (.net), and you can download countless tracks. Down In Albion has some cracking songs on it. Typical conversation: "Do you have the Babyshambles record?" "Pete Doherty is a f**king sap." "That's not what I asked - have you listened to the record?" "Er no, but I don't need to, because Pete Doherty is a f**king sap." Gotta love the way people can think for themselves these days.
Oh get over yourself, just cos people don't like Babyshambles it doesn't mean that they can't think for themselves....I have listened to some (fair enough not all) and for the most part its cack IMHO. Whatever promise Pete Doherty had has been flitered away by his smack/crack habit and while I realise that there is a romantic association with drug abuse and a bohemian appeal of that lifestyle (as stated by Dromed) its harks back to bygone days of literary and artistic hedonism I think Pete Doherty has nowhere near the about of talent that can sustain such hero worship by some of his fans, I am so bored of hearing about his court appearances and failed attempts at rehab...zzzz...plus the shambolic (no pun intended) live gigs...it's been done by bigger and better bands than Babyshambles but no doubt this gig (TBMC) will be a sell-out, with queues around the block in fact they may even be a need for the St. Johns Ambulance due to fainting fits.....like Westlife at the Point Depot.. If Pete Doherty does kick the bucket we will have endure the posthumas hysteria that often follows such a departure. Personally I hope he gets clean, retires from music and the public eye to raise chickens in the English countryside....happy and healthy but out of earshot....
If you are so bored reading about him stop buying the sun/star/mirror etc. It really is that simple. People's dislike of doherty directly descends from the media attention he gets. They are plenty of other bands that people dislike yet none generate as much hatred as babyshambles. It is purely because of the constant drivel churned out by the tabloids. Anyhooo, I'll be at the gig with my babyshamble t-shirt, hat and glo sticks and whistle. Preston to win

Mmmmm...well should I stop watching the news, reading broad sheets and logging onto the Internet too...? Cos believe me the reporting of Doherty's extra cirricular activities is no longer the preserve of the tabloids only. His recent dalliances with the law have made the BBC 6 o'clock news and been reported in the hallowed sheets if the Guaridan. In fact he made headlines there before he graced the pages of Now! and Heat who never knew he existed before a certain super model took a fancy to him...anyway this is really incidental to me I just don't like his music...crack habit or no crack habit its not my bag at all....so while I (unlike you) can't speak for "people"....a statement like..."People's dislike of doherty directly descends from the media attention he gets" is a tad on the presumptious side....maybe some of us just don't like the records !?

s**t, sorr that should read "some people's dislike" etc. Should clarify as it did read as a great big swooping genralisation. I'm not talking about clued in people such as claus readers, but the general tabloid reading person. For instance, i mentioned to a few in work that i was going. And the immediate reaction was why you going to see a junkie, sure he's a w**ker etc. I saw them live and for the most part they were awful, save two songs.

Sure don't mind them eejits in work...what do they know? I think that people love the drama that's unfolding before our eyes. I mean they go on about him being a junkie (I've more of a problem with his obvious disregard for personal hygiene) but yet they lap all that s*&t up....but look if people aren't giving out about him it's whoever is making the headlines that week...Jordan, Pete, Brad and Angelina, Britney.....it's hard to avoid the saturation!

I've had that 'example conversation' many many times with many many people. I don't think that makes me smug.

My opinion is that it does. I gave you an alternative conversation that you might have with me, someone who has bought the Babyshambles album. Again, just because you have had that conversation many times doesn't make it right. This is pretty pointless and I'm not trying to bug you about this but your post just smacked of smugness. The impression that I got from it was that you couldn't understand how anyone could not see the brilliance in Babyshambles. Not to argue further, but the reaction to your original post suggests that many are of the view that the Babyshambles are no great shakes. Anyway, as I said, this is my opinion and my interpretation of your post. I think the last sentence of it (gotta love how people are thinking for themselves these days) was smug.

That exact conversation many times ?? You must be very bored having example converations.... It wasn't so much the example conversation that made you sound smug....just the line "gotta love the way people can think for themselves"...i mean come on...that oozes smugness...i can think for myself quite easily thank you very much !

yeah, saw that on hotpress.com. I liked the way they listed their tourdates and then put "in theory" at the end. Hee hee. Well, once again I'll get tickets to this and hope the f**kers turn up.

Why would anyone want to go along to Babyshambles to see that pathetic, moon-faced, mumbling junkie loser Pete Doherty? Why would people pay good money to see this complete tabloid travesty of a human being?

Those Tour De France boys seem to be up to their eyes on drugs and they still turn up for races. I think Doherty has just got some self-organisational issues, I think a Time Management course rather than rehab could sort out his troubles.

# Very good point. These cyclists can cycle for hundreds of miles while completely whacked out of their heads on drugs. Doherty doesn't have to cycle anywhere and he still can't turn up.

Somehow I doubt that it is performance-enhancing drugs that Doherty is taking!

Why would anyone bother. The one time I actually saw them live they were disastrously bad. (Trinity Ball, if you must ask *ahem*). Even would make me not want to go see Dirty Pretty Things by proxy.
