I'm not about to get started in another round of Humanzi bashing because I still haven't heard one of their songs and as a result have no idea if they're any good or not, but I do find it interesting that their upcoming TBMC gig is getting a push in the latest MCD and ticketmaster newsletters. Fair f**ks to 'em and all but I wonder if the people handling them are really taking into consideration the backlash that they're in for if what they produce winds up being underwhelming. Of course the backlash is only going to take place in a small market, I'm sure they could give 2 s**ts about Ireland if things take off for them in the UK.

on the ball unicron with the last line. i agree that ireland is a small puddle in the bigger scheme of things but i dont think i've come across a band who have agitated SO many people without releasing a note of music. i can't go to oxegen (cos i dont have a ticket) but i will go to see them in the TBMC to make up my own mind, i think i may even like them - i mean, even sigue sigue sputnik had a decent tune or 2

That TBMC gig is going to be interesting, I'd imagine they'll get a good crowd of people turning up out of curiosity and a fair percentage of them will be there hoping that they'll hate them.

At least they'll get a good turn out. Thats given me an idea, I'm starting a band, its going to be rubbish. Come and see how utterly pants we are, then tell all your friends..

Kloot ! I see to my surprise and delight that Joe Chester is playing on Saturday. Make sure you and Mully don't cock it up like last time.

I like to think that most people at a gig (where they are not a hitherto fan of the band and are there to check out this hypothetical band and all the hype surrounding said hypothetical band, etc) have strong critical faculties and are probably jaded from listening and seeing a string of derivative, soundalike bands and will go there needing to be really impressed by hypothetical band and, to be honest wanting to hate the band, therefore hypothetical band will really need to pull out all the stops to impress cynical 'seen-it-all-before' punters and subsequently get them to spend their hard-earned cash on their music and to ultimately become a bonafide fan of the band from thereon in, if that makes sense...I'll stop now...

I didnt realise thatThe Blue Van were playing - Sat. New Band Stage, 4.30pm. Amazing Danish band - very retro, but very sharp. Saw them in Denmark earlier in the year and they were fantastic. If you get a chance, check them, theyre my secret oxegen tip! Plus the Red Organ Serpent Sound - Derry band who have a track on that Faction compilation.

my tip is a bottle of buckfast, liquid amphetamine! The perfect festival drink, just a pity you can't bring booze into the festival area. Saw RODRIGO Y GABRIELA a while ago and they were definitely one of the highlights of the weekend, so talented and a really cool sing along to Wish You Were Here at the end. other than that keane, cos eh they're sooooo exciting loike
