Way back in 2002, when Boa Morte released
their debut album ‘Soon it will come time to face the world outside’, it was
met with universal acclaim at home in Ireland. Abroad, it earned four star
reviews in the likes of Mojo and Uncut. A worldwide release on Shoeshine
Records was so successful that all first and second pressings sold out
completely. The band toured extensively, headlining on their own as well as
touring with the likes of Teenage Fanclub and Calexico. John Peel hopped on
board and played the band on his seminal BBC radio show.
In 2004 and 2005, Boa Morte went back into
the studio with US producer Daniel Presley and recorded their follow-up album.
However, the often-heard story of record company hesitancy in the light of an
uncertain, ever-changing music retail landscape led to delay after delay.
Now, at last, the long awaited second
album, ‘The Dial Waltz’ is set for release in February 2010. In advance of
this, the band’s first album is available to download for the very first time
on iTunes, Amazon mp3, eMusic, Napster and elsewhere. This represents a great
chance for those who missed getting a copy of the album first time around.
More details to follow on the second album
and tour in the coming months. Keep an eye on www.myspace.com/myboamorte for
more.
