The Hub (formerly crazy goldfish-bowl of yokers: Switch!) opens its doors for the first time on friday september 5th with a special appearence from a special guest (you know who)...but f**k that!!!! the following evening sees the real opening of The Hub!!!!! Three of Dublins most dangerous live acts; The Subtonics, Republic of Loose and Listo play a special CPU organised party in the venue. These three bands promise to provide a serious nights ents..why? cos they are three bands who consider their audiences worth the effort, three bands who are willing to sweat and bleed for some cheap applause, three bands with show-offs as front-men but most of all three bands with tunes and a dangerous live presence. Admission to this event is a measley € 10 and enybody who attended the last CPU event before Xmas 2002 will know that there will be some serious surprises... www.cpu-records.com Apologies to monkey for plugging a f**king gig :)

f**king hell!! i really enjoyed the hub on saturday night..the tall stories were electric, listo played without keyboards with their keyboard player filling in on drums and gave a new meaning to the word RAW!!! republic of loose had every punter eating from the palm of their sweet soulful hands and the subtonics delivered one of their greasiest sweatiest dirtiest rock n roll shows ever. anyone who paid into this gig definately got their tenners worth..am i right?? ur comments on a postcard.....

Now in my own not- so- humble opinion i think this gig is proof of the f**king amazing talent that currently abounds in this town. the tallstories are clearly blessed by all the gods of rock and the brightest stars in the firmanent. Flying saucers rock 'n' roll ROCK ROCK RRRRRRROCK! they blew me away frankly, They moved me, Really there can be no higher praise. Their music speaks for itself. and listo i have to say made me review any of my reservations about them (though not the haircut i still think that singer needs his head examined) but without the keyboards they were better and i loved the singer's glam rock question like tone at the end of his verses. he really carried it and it suits the way he moves too i think he should consider honing this trait. as for the lead guitarist cut him loose with the singing, he's brilliant, they are better raw than dancey, hmmmmmm,.. they rocked too ..i particularly enjoyed their new songs. Rep Of Loose are simply genius anyhow, and the gig here was superior to the eamonn dorans one i think this primarily had something to do with the club the crowd, the feeling in the air, something in the water, mick pyro is just bleedin notes, blues, his wheedlin' and cajoling what's a po girl gonna do? it was so exciting and i think this is where the feeling surrounding the music is important, the transmission is a two way thing that needs to be felt and the hub was proof of that on saturday. as for the subtonics- well well well wouldn't cha know it was gonna be an explosive contradiction of rock -pop. With the vocals, guitars and drums starring in a live porn show of intercourse with electro keyboards and the bandleader wiping the floor with his energy. for further gig analysis you can go to the hub's posts. pity the white trousers have been relegated to the wardrobe of rock shame though. they're so Waiting On A Destiny. As the song go's " Theres something in the water" what a great nigth theres something going on in this town. I dunno what it is but its getting better and saturday nigth was living proof...all it takes now is a new government and we've got a real movement ( or else a new drug). Im runnin for minister for transport all we need is a taoiseach and i think stef would be the ideal candidate! Also i think Neilo from the things would take that fat bitch Mary Harneys place nicely.. Any suggestions? By the way fair play to Eddie Sheridan at C.P.U for looking after all the bands sat.. We need more of that. Hats off.

Bring back the white trousersnake...ehh sorry I mean trousers!! Ha ha! Brilliant night on Saturday - the Subs and Listo outdid themselves again and Republic of loose were outstanding. The toilet situation was diabolic though - 6 toliets in the ladies jaxx and all but one was working and then that one went too...?? I thought that was the kind of crap that happens when the masses are pilled up to the eye balls at Creamfields and the Jaxx becomes a sludge war zone or something??? The portaloos at Witnness anyone??? Hope that gets sorted - I heard the sound was pretty bad on the Friday night - but seemed to be ok on Saturday so that's good. Hi-Rise are playing there on Wednesday 17th, hope ye's can make it down!
