What do people think of the new reviews in terms of writing?

Calm down, Not going to analyse anyone's writing...but I thought Dromed's review of 'Begin to Hope' was brilliantly written. I completely disagree with him/her, bought the album a couple of days ago and really enjoying it, but the quality of the writing is so good and points so eloquently made it will make me listen to the album more closely...s**t, I'm starting to analyse now. Ok shut up.. Another review,in Uncut I think, said she has become slightly more accessible without giving up any of the 'weirdness' (how come if it was man who sang and composed music in this style he wouldn't be described as 'weird'). Just a thought.

Reviews are there for comment surely folks. However, is it not when it gets personal that things go into an undesirable zone.

I think people disagreeing with the points being made in the review is fine and can serve to spark a decent debate here on the board. But just going off about HOW it was written is pointless. Speaking of Dromed's Regina Spektor review. She said that "Samson" had been previously recorded. I've heard that version before somewhere and remember it being far superior to the one on the new album, anyone know where I can get it? I've got a feeling that a friend of mine put it on a mix for me before but I can seem to find it.

If a reviewer is gonna express their opinion on someone's work, why can't people express their opinions on the reviewer's work? seems perfectly resonable to me.
