Very much agree with the Futureheads nomination! What a complete loss of pace and substance and everything else that made them what they were. White Rose Movement too – was expecting greatness – the 2 or 3 singles are great but after that there’s not much else goin on. Not too sure whether or not I dislike the YYY’s new album so I may or may not add them to my own list! It’s a definite change of direction… cant decide whether thats the band growing and all that bulls**t… or cause they’ve lost their spark. Gold Lion is still a great tune tho..

I like the new futureheads rekkid. It doesn't grab you in the same way as the debut, but it's still got some great tunes. less fun, but more grown up. i prefer to listen to a band progress than wallow in musical stasis and release the same record again.

THe singles on the WRM album aren't even the same feckin recordings as those released individually - The album version of 'Love is a Number' is dire. LIke 'Girls in the Back' and a few others on it but overall pretty dissappointing.

Secret Machines, Ten Silver Drops. Apart from All at Once(It's not important), never reaches the heights of the first album. Grandaddy, Fambly Cat. Maybe I expected too much after hearing Elevate Myself and Jeez Louise are fantastic, but nothing else on the album matches that quality. And YYY's, as mentioned in best of thread. Yawn.

I cannot BELIEVE people are actually talking about Show Your Bones in such a negative manner! You people are crazy! It's a f**king fantastic record. Cluas is the first place I've seen people slamming it. Everyone I've spoken to about it - music journos, musicians, industry heads, fans, newcomers to the YYYs, Fever To Tell lovers, DJs, indie kids, techno heads, pop fiends - they all love it! I'm slightly bemused by the flavour of the analysis here.

The majority of people I've talked too were initially disappointed on first hearing it but most of them admitted to it growing on them after a while. I don't know how you came to the conclusion that everybody loves the album. AMG gave it three stars, Mojo gave it three stars, Pitchfork gave it 6.8 out of ten. Overall the response has being pretty muted. Like I said I think it's a pretty good album it's just not a very exciting one. It doesn't have any tracks on it that would make me dance like a spastic like Bang or Date With The Night. But also it doesn't have any tracks that would make the hair stand up on the back of my neck in the same way that Maps or Our Time would. Bacially they use to remind me of PJ Harvey circa Rid of Me, now they remind me of PJ Harvey circa Stories From The Sea (though not as good).

The Guardian slated 'Show Your Bones', but in a really petty and rubbish review. there were more middling reviews than supremely positive ones. i think it's pretty decent, but i wouldn't be going spastic about it or nothing.

you know when you really think something is fantastic and you fall in love with it, it's hard to see how someone else couldn't like it too. Fandom! I think the Observer gave it 5 stars at the time. I only really read reviews in the Observer, they're the only well written ones.
