Don't have a credit card. I think CDwow takes laser but is there anywhere that sells stuff a bit less mainstream?

I'd recommend a 3V 'disposable' credit card that you top up and can use online. It's free.

There's a 5 Euro handling fee per card you buy and you can't actually top them up the same way you're can with phone credit. If you're left with €1.29 on the card and buy a new one for €50 your credit is only €50, not €51.29

Uh oh. I didn't know this....but now I do. s**tE. I avoided a credit card partly for reasons related to temptation and will power. That's torn it now. Great. That said, I find a Laser makes things awfully easily to buy. It feels like you're not spending money at all... But OH how you are.

Don't a lot of sites take Paypal these days? CDBaby accepts (http://cdbaby.com/) "PayPal, check, money order, international money order, cash, chocolate." My personal fave, www.spun.com accepts paypal or money order in advance of an order. Even Amazon.co.uk accepts "cheques or postal orders (denominated in Pounds Sterling)" On any site you visit, there should be a help link where you can find payment options, if you read this section there is nearly always a non-credit card option. Never as convenient as a credit card in my opinion though. My advice: get a flexible friend and some inflexible self-control.

What'd be really good is if Irish banks started providing their customers with Visa Debit cards.

I applied to have one of those 3v vouchers sent out to me a few months back. Resulted in me having a fairly meaningless conversation with a 3v rep yesterday. Fiona's phone rings. Me: Hello? Dude: Hi is that Fiona blah blah? Me: It is indeed. Dude: I'm Dude McChap from 3v services whatever.. Me: Right. Ok. Dude: You received a 3v voucher from us a while back. Me: Yeah, haven't used it yet though. Dude: Oh. Haven't you? Oh. Right well...uh Me: Yeah...so..... Dude: Right, well, sure, if you look on our website you can see a list of places that you can have your voucher topped up. Me: Yeah, I know. Dude: No need to be a bitch, bitch. ME: Why did you just waste my time? I'm never going to get these precious minutes back, yknow? Dude: I'm just doing what they told me. Me: Leave it out, would you? I'm kinda busy here with important stuff. O'Sullivan just needs to pot the yellow to leave Williams needing snookers. I'm more worried about that and I really dont have the time for this s**t. Dude: I know where you live, you c**t Me: I hope you catch SARS. Dude: Sure seeya later Me: Yep, all the best.

CDWow now have this Warehouse that lists a lot of non-mainstream stuff. Pick an obscure band you like and search for them in CDWow. It probably won't be found but the site should then give you the option of searching their Warehouse for it. Prices are about standard CDWow levels. It doesn't come from their normal stock so won't be delivered as quickly. I've had mixed results from it. Got the Band Of Horses album from it last week quite soon after release date, but also had a Clogs album on order for over a month and they just couldn't get it so I got a refund. Worth trying though...

I think Amazon is the biz. Select the New and Used link and it brings you into a list of independent retailers who sell at lower prices than the official Amazon price. When you add in P & P it works out at €12/13 which is what would you pay on CDWOW. Anything I've ever ordered has arrived.

Hey, that was my first reaction upon learning CDWOW took Laser and visiting the site. Why don't I get a card? Despite being on a solid financial footing I've got a low credit score.
