My girlfriend is a big Prodigy fan and her birthday being last weekend, I brought her along to the Prodify gig in the odyssey on friday night. They put on a great show. But one of the things that really impressed me was how the whole operation was run. First off, the Venue itself. Amazing setup there. From the parking to the gig experience itself. Could easily enter and leave to go to the toilets or to the bar. No one telling you you cant go out this exit. Very easy to get near the front if you so wished and the sound was excellent. The staff were dressed in uniform alright, but they were not dressed like those people who guide down the airplanes on aircraft carries, with big head phones and microphones and the big puffy jackets. They were very helpful. Didnt see anyone dragging people to the ground for sitting on peoples shoulders. The bar, well to be honest we were both on a dry one for various reasons, but the thing that seemed great to me, was that when you went to the bar, you got a lid for your pint so that you didnt spill it, and if you had a few pints in hand, then they gave you some cardboard carton to carry them with, and there was no problem bringing them into the venue itself. Overall a good experience. Some dublin venues could learn from these guys

best big venue on the island. really well run with excellent staff. kinda proves (like vicar st) that it is possible to run a music venue without employing steroid-crazy security people and all-round w**kers. the point could take a few pointers (sorry) from the odyssey.
