Hundreds of musicians make mistakes or take on bold moves or become a little too experimental. But what stands out as one of the stupidest things a musician has done and you wish they hadn't? I'm not talking about Michael Jackson hanging a baby off a balcony or Mark from Westlife revealing his sexual preferences. Things that might have ruined your previous regard of a certain musician like Bob Dylan writing a dreadful book and doing the lingerie ad. Or Ryan Adams releasing 'Rock And Roll'. Any others stand out?

which Dylan book do you mean, i really liked his new autobiography one. "Tarantula" is supposed to be crap, but what can you expect, definitely wouldnt ruin an artist for me. Stupid things i dunno, dying maybe. Never really thought about it to be honest, maybe something will come to me

'Chronicles' is just a badly written book. It hardly reveals anything about Dylan and it's so obvious that no one edited it to bits. He should've employed a ghost writer for it. It doesn't change my opinion on him but I know it has for a mate of mine. On a side note, that 'No Direction Home' looks really good.

just thought of one. Cat Stevens turning muslim, well no problem with that as such, but it is a pity he hung up his guitar.(ok im clutching at straws!) I did like Chronicles though, found it pretty entertaining and a good read, i wasn't really looking for tons of info on him though, already got most of it from other places. Whats No Direction Home?

It's a movie about Dylan's career spanning never-before-seen footage and directed by Mr. Scorsese.

metallica's career since bob rock forced his way in, i found chronicles made me dizzy, it seemed to skip a bit, like an old record, im a bit dim so maybe it was just the big words. As for advertising etc its just work for well known people, i cant say i'd care what anyone sells, i just like the music bands and artists make, everything else is like salad with a steak- YOU DONT EAT THE SILLY SALAD! the stones have sold out they're sh1t loads of times and keef is still the top man. pretty much everything foo fighters have done since the first album is a bit of let down and turned me off the band, they more or less imposed EMO on us. i never did anything to grohl, why'd he go and give a load of middle class white kids a music genre to cry about girlfriends and dead cats, or whatever the fuk those annoying turds go on about(funeral for a friend excepted, they can actually play guitar, IMO)

Signing to Sanctuary records, do that and then turn out the worst stuff of your career. Eg: John Hiatt, Ocean Colour Scene and Lou Reed's new DVD 'Spanish Fly' which must be the only new live DVD NOT recorded in 5.1 digital surround.
