I dont paticularly like either but i had to pay attention when the lead singer of the killers started saying that the bravery where only signed because of them and are just a rip off . I think in that case the killers are just a rip off of hot hot heat what do you think . there are similarities with the synthsizers and all ( someone tell me how to spell that). Singing is also kind of similar

well, it's well known at this stage that The Bravery were more or less manufactured by polydor. Their lead singer (up until recently) had blonde dreadlocks and sung in a ska band. I think Brandon Flowers probably has got wind of this and begun bitching about The Bravery's success, which although not COPYING the Killers per se, is definately riding on the back of their success. That said, Honest Mistake is a tune. And, if The Killers want to start ranting about other bands ripping them off, they ought to empty their pockets of stones and exit the greenhouse.

I wouldn't say the Killers are a rip off of Hot Hot Heat. I WOULD say HHH would be more successful, if their lead singer was a little more 'accessible'.

There may be a certain amount of truth in it. The Bravery aren't taken half as seriously in the US as they are this side of the atlantic. Apparently theres been lots of accusations that they are basically a manufactured band put together by a record company in response to the success of the Killers and it actually appears that it may well be true. Thats the way the record industry works, something is successful and record companies go "bring me ten more like that!", either signing similar bands or "manufacturing " them until they've bled it dry and have to look for the next big thing. Personally I don't care if a band are "manufactured" or not as long as they are delivering the goods musically, after all you could say that The Sex Pistols were a manufactured band. The Braverys' single is a pretty catchy tune, though hardly earth shattering. Everybody sounds like somebody else these days, its just some are smarter at filtering and reinterpreting their influences. edit - oops, didn't see your post Una, just too slow at typing I guess.

Yeah it could help but maybe they dont want to be really huge like the killers . But i must say i think they will be huge with there new album elevator because it is just an album full of possible singles . Especially the indie club type .

This is the saddest rock rivelry ever, The Bravery's responce in particular (something albout the Killer's bassist looking like dutch transvestite) is pathethic. Anyway I reckon my frail old gran could kick the s**t out of both bands at the same time.

god i hope i don't get in a big rivalry with a dopey band! it ties you forever to another band and create a competition. being that closely connected to another band is - i think - the worst thing that can happen. ie: blur/oasis, libertines/babyshambles, foo fighters/nirvana, duran duran/spandau ballet, beatles/stones. one band will always be in the shadow of the other...

If one ban is accussing the other of ripping them off then shouldn't Duran Duran be having a go at the pair of them. And I can't wait to see what Adam Ant has to say about the Bravery. What with the lead singer robbing his jacket and the bassist taking his eyeliner. And wait till your man out of Flock of Seagulls get's a look at their quiffs....

They're both BIG CRAP pop acts. They will be forgotten about in a few years.
