(NB: The following moderators note has been locked at the outset since it is is an information / guidelines only posting. This posting is in response to clarify querys by readers and is intended to answer those querys. This posting does not refer to any member of Cluas.com - and should not be construed as such in any manner - nor should any reader infer anything personal in the following text) It has been said previously but it bears repeating that nobody who is a member of or who posts on Cluas.com is anonymous. Software embedded in the site and managed by the moderator team allows us to see exactly who is online and where they are located. From time to time, this throws up querys, especially when one computer appears to be used for a variety of user handles. EG: a computer terminal in an internet cafe in Temple Bar, located across the road from the music centre. Equally, a user may access Cluas from a variety of computers, eg: Bill Gates. As a general rule, it is presumed that those posting on Cluas are readers drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds who have a passion for music and a desire to express it in (virtual) writing. As a result, over the last 6 years, Cluas has grown into an ongoing hothouse of new writing talent and many fine professional writers (you know who you are) took their first steps on our boards. This is a tribute to all involved in Cluas but also because we, as a team, expect a certain level of professional courtesy from each other. Over the years an informal reader-led protocol has developed with regard to member names. For example, where someone is expressing an interest in a band, group or style of music that they are a fan of but not professionally involved with, they have tended to use names like like 'myotherguitarisafender' etc but that when they are a member of an act or group etc that their handle is either part or all of their actual/stage name. For example, Nina Hynes and the various Pyros in the very fine ROL. In my own case, my handle Rev Jules is a short version of Jules Jackson and anyone trawling through the site would very quickly put two and two together about me and realise that Jules, the moderator, is the same as Jules the writer. The handy thing about this informal protocol is that it also acts as an informal declaration of interest. Where you are the artist, people understand where you are coming from, and if they are fans of your work can engage you in discussion. Where you are a listener, again, your comments are viewed in the realm of simple appreciation (or not). As I said before, this is a reader led situation, as are all good developments on Cluas and it is encouraged. If however, you choose to not follow this protocol and querys arise about your postings then you must understand that we will, in order to preserve the free and fair flow of discussion on the site, have to contact you directly to resolve matters. On another, unrelated topic: I also want to point out that email contact forms embedded in member profiles are there to allow private discussions between members off the boards. This is done to facilitate fair and friendly discussion and should be treated as such. This facility is not there to allow one member to send abusive, nasty, malicious, hostile or aggessive emails to another person. Should it happen, and as far as I know it hasn't, please be aware that your email provider can - under directions through their complaints department - take action against you if so requested by the target of your emails on the basis that malicious communication is the same whether done by post or another medium and, of course, emails are much easier to track since the email provider can locate your actual computer. Thats all, in the words of Jerry Springer, take care of yourselves and each other.
