Michael Eavis has announced that there will be no Glastonbury in 2006 in order to give the locals a break. When it comes back, will it be held in London ?

Er, where did you hear this? There's nothing on the official website (www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk), except stuff about the license application. And that is 2006, yes, not 2005? I'll be a bit peeved if it's not on this year.

Interesting. Is it 2005 or 2006, though?

Anyone know if there would be any chance at all for someone in Ireland to get a ticket?

heres the clipping Glastonbury to take 2006 break Press Association Tuesday January 18, 2005 The Guardian There will be no Glastonbury festival next year, organiser Michael Eavis revealed yesterday. Mr Eavis said he had decided to give himself and residents of the Somerset village a break. The 69-year-old told Time Out magazine: "The village has gradually got used to the festival, which has been a long, gradual process. But to give ourselves and the village a bit of a breather, we're taking next year off." His decision means tickets will be in even more in demand when they go on sale on April 3. Phone booking lines will open on a Sunday, when the exchange is less busy, to avoid last year's problems, when hundreds of thousands of fans were unable to get through. Tickets will cost £125, up from last year's £112, and will be limited to two a person. In an attempt to foil touts and avoid tickets being sold for extortionate sums on eBay, photo ID will be required. Mr Eavis said he planned to give the festival a break every four years. "It keeps up the excitement. You take a year off and then you're so excited to get back into it again." This year's line-up is a closely guarded secret. Mr Eavis described the headline act as "the best songwriters in the world today".

Well, I've managed to get one every year it's been on since 98, so... That said, it was a right pain in the arse last year, and I have horrible fears that it'll only get worse. They are promising more servers and stuff for internet purchasing but I'm not holding out much hope, as the Aloud.com folks who do their ticket sales seem to be completely useless. And phew on the 2006 thing, I was thinking it was a bit odd to call it off, given that their license application was only yesterday. They've taken years off before, for various reasons (license issues re security, need to give the land a rest), and it's always come back to Worthy Farm.

My girlfriend got two tickets via phone for us last year , however it took about 6 hrs of dialing , it's just crazy but it can be done , the internet was a no go last year. As for collecting tickets over there that was no problem either , the bus actually stopped for us and we were able to buy beer and collect our tickets and then jump back on the bus , the queues weren't big and it took us about 10 mins , just had to show your passport. The only thing we had hassle with was leaving glastonbury which took about 4-6 hrs waiting for a bus !! So my advice would be if possible don't fly back that day.

I wouldn't mind going over this year if someone equally as dedicated was prepared to go. I'm not sure. It usually looks great on the tv and the reports are always positive.
