So all, what do you think will be the biggest festivals of '05? Who'll be playing Slane and Oxegen?

Foo Fighters and Prodigy so far announced for Oxegen, looking ok but im sure there will be some cracking acts signed up soon. The weekend camping aswell as so many acts to choose from makes Oxegen the more attractive option. Unless Mountcharles pulls out a big act for Slane. Has anyone here gone to Glastonbury in recent years? If so, how did you get tickets?

Tried desperately to get tickets for Glasto last year - 4 of us on the internet simultaneously the minute they went on sale - no joy at all - also tried the phonelines and stayed on the net all day but site kept crashing and they were sold out pretty quickly I think. On top of that they said they wouldn't send tickets to overseas customers buying tickets, they were to be collected at a town nearby. Heard nasty stories of huge queues to collect the tiks and then people trying to get to the festival from there had a nightmare too. Think Oxyegen might be the best bet, but would still love to get to Glasto at least once in my lifetime!!

Yeah, I've heard stories about not getting tickets for Glastonbury. Maybe one day. By the way, Ian Brown just got announced for Oxegen.

Aren't U2 playing Croke Park over the summer? As it is a mere stroll from my hovel, I was looking forward to going/sitting it the back garden and enjoying it!

Hopefully Westmeath will be playing there next September - Dessie and Sam - a gig really worth seeing!

U2 will not play Glasto this year and as Radiohead won't have a new album to plug I doubt they'll be back. I've been there the last 2 years, the first year was absolutely amazing; beautiful weather, great lineup. Last year was not so good; horrible weather, weaker lineup but it was still enjoyable.

Benicassim(between Barcelona and Valencia)in Spain is an indie, pop, electronic music festival. It's been going since about 1994, with 5 stages over 3 days. It's situated by the beach and the music goes on all night. It's usually on in early August. Brian Wilson, Air, Chemical Brothers, Franz Ferdinand, Scissor Sisters, Pet Shop Boys, Belle & Sebastian, Blackstrobe, Electrelane, FC Kahuna, Felix Da Housecat, Kings of Leon, Kraftwerk, Lali Puna, Lambchop, LCD Soundsystem, Love with Arthur Lee, Richie Hawtin vs. Ricardo Villalobos, The Shins, Snow Patrol, Spiritualized and the Tindersticks were all lined up to play in 2004... Tickets: 152 euros (including opening party) or 140 euros (just 3 days) Sounds really good - with good mix of music...will be seriously thinking of going this Summer

Awwhh now Spurtacus that's no way to approach it...think BIG! Sunshine, sangria and ehhhh more sunshine??!! I have my doubts the line up can be as good this year as last years, but to be honest, in that setting, I think I'l make the effort anyway!

My money's on Coldplay to headline Slane this year. Their third album is due out in March and assuming it's good I can see them conquering the planet with it. They've already headlined Wittness the year before last so Slane is the next logical step for them in this country anyway.

Bennicassim was prob the best four days of my life, the music starts at six in the evening and go's on till six in the morning.. it is prob the best run festival in the world, with a 24 hour bar and comunal showers! It is situated beside the nicest beach ive ever seen, so you can swim when it gets to hot or your to mad out of it in the day,. And the music is quality, primal scream came on at 3.30 in the morning, What the f**k! Need i say more, oh yeh, the spanish woman walk around with barely any clothes, id strongly recommend this festival, it makes oxygen look like a consentration camp!
