Right. The 3rd instalment of the CLUAS gigs of the fortnight is now live on the site. It covers gigs over the two week period beginning next Monday (Nov 8th). Check it out at http://www.CLUAS.com/gigs_of_fortnight/ Now that we have three of these under the belt I want to solicit some feedback on the format from regulars around these parts. Do you think it's an appropriate format? Do you think the spread of gigs (geographically, across genres, established acts vs new acts, etc) is sound? Anything constructive to offer to help us shape it any better? Any while I'm at it, is there anybody here who is going to any of the gigs mentioned in the current gigs of the fortnight? If so will you do a review for the site? Even if you haven't done a review ever before? We'd like to see some new writers added to the existing vibrant community of CLUAS writers. And the deal is that if you are good enough to regularly posting interesting additions to this discussion board you have what it takes to write a decent review. Even if you don't think you do. So give it a whirl. eoghan

It's pretty good, but the genre of music gigs coming up could be expanded. My example of this for the next two weeks would be that The Two Lone Swordsmen are playing and it's a gig not to be missed - it seems more geared towards bands and singer/songwriters rather than electronica or DJ's - not a bad thing by the way, but maybe a wider range as I think it should give people a broader scope on whats going on. Other than that - all good.

Thats a fair enough point but in my defence I'm basing the gig guide around stuff that I know of and as my tastes tend to only touch on electronica (four-tet and the likes) and not on DJ's at all so I'm pretty ignorant of what worth checking out in those areas but I've tried to include stuff from that area that I do know (Rahzel, Autamata and Life After Modellings second inclusion was down to the fact that I could plug Neosupervital as a support act), even then I don't always plug gigs that I myself would be go to but stuff that I think people would be interested in (I don't like Declan O'Rouke myself but he's making waves so he's got a couple of mentions). And yes, Nouvelle Vague should have been included (if for no other reason than the M83 connection. Hey, theres another electronica act I like) but I missed seeing it when I was looking through the calender for gigs in that period. There is a link where people can submit gigs for consideration on the gigs of the fortnight page and if anyone feels that there is something that is really worth checking out in any genre that they are more then welcome to let me know about it. Actually if there was some amazing electronica act playing Longford I'd love to hear about it, it's hard to find stuff outside Dublin/Cork/Limerick/Galway/Derry/Belfast. I think the focus on the band/singer-songwriter thing (besides my tendancy to like that sort of thing and thus know more about whats going on in those areas) is also a reflection of what gigs are happening here.

Two Loneswordsmen = Andrew Weatherhall and Keith Tenniswood. Dark Electronica that makes you move. Recommendation = From The Double Gone Chapel, 2004. It's produced by the above with Drums Guitars and all that sort of jazz and I like it, I can bop along real good. Defo go to these on Friday, tix from Road Records and City Discs - no ticketbastard involved there. Also support is coming from Alan O'Boyle (I think) from Decal
