http://www.williamshatner.co.uk Have any of you lovely people heard about this? Okay, there's a large helping of irony attached, but having said that...produced by Ben Folds, contributions from Rollins, Aimee Mann, Nick Hornby, etc. I downloaded the version of Common People - extraordinary; sounds like the Strokes, seguing into the end of the Stones' You Can't Always Get What You Want, with Shatner being...well, Shatner. I also downloaded the title track which features the man himself dissing the younger generation who "don't know s**t" and write him off as a "has been": sounds like Ennio Morricone, again; marvellous. Great stuff all in all - eclectic, original - will certain buy the album. Anyone got it? (Hey, it makes a change from the f**king Frames).

i've heard common people and its terrifying to think that ladies and gentlemen, in 30 years or so THAT WILL BE US!!! ok maybe not common people, maybe it will be teen spirit, jeremy, screamager, oh yeah, but someday us kids will be old, fat and misunderstood (as opposed to young fat and misunderstood! in my case only!!!haha.)

With all due respect, I think you're already being misunderstood.

His version of common people is pretty amazing alright. I wouldn't go as far as to label it "good" in the traditional sense, but does have a spark of artistic (though not neccesarily musical) genius. At least he has had the good sense and decency not to actually attempt to sing! Of course, if this is a success, the Leonard Nimoy comeback is only around the corner...
