Figured we hadn't had light hearted thread on the forum in a while, so I thought I'd start one, it being a friday and all. Video may have killed the radio star, but it seems the video game and the rock star were made for each other. If ever there was a format for flashy, characters this is it and it seems rock (and hip hop) stars are popping up in video games all the time, the most recent being Iggy Pop playing a carjacking criminal in the new GTA style, driving/shooting game, Driv3r. Other notable appearances of rock stars in video games include David Bowie in Omnikron, The Nomad Soul, a bizarre game involving the ability to swap bodies with characters. There was of course Micheal Jacksons' 80s' arcade game version of Moonwalker. Wu-Tang Clan had their own beat-em-up called Feel the Pain and even Britney Spears has her own disturbingly realistic dancing game. So folks, over to you, can you think of any other rock stars in video game moments? If not maybe you could suggest a video game/musician combination that you would like to see. Personally I think little animated versions of the members of Tychonaut (formerly the The Tycho Brahe) in a sequel the classic Lucasarts point and click adventure games Manic Mansion and Day of the Tentacle would be class.

If I remember correctly you could "unlock" The Super Furry Animals in a football game that was out about 6 yeas ago, can't remember the name of it - it's in their video for Play It Cool aswell

I'd personally like to see a game with busted in it. Maybe an updated duck hunt or something. Just think of the oodles of pleasure to be derived from taking aim and blowing them away. Happy days indeed PS. I know they are not exactly rock stars but I wanna shoot them sooooo much

Hehehe, yeah Duderino, duck hunt was cool, of course if you really want to live out your Busted homicide fantasies a creatively texture mapped Quake III mod might be the thing

A shoot-them-up game with a host of characters to choose from like James Hetfield, Chris Cornell, Slash, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend, Morrisey and Ian Brown. The object of the game is for the true rock stars to save this alien world where people are under a horrible trance. The thing causing this trance is cheesy pop music. The characters have to hunt down and not only kill but torture Pete Waterman, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Louis Walsh, Westlife, Busted, Gareth Gates, Cheeky Girls etc. Or maybe a 5-aside football game in the mode of pro evolution soccer. Each team is a band. There could be the new batch Franz Ferdinand, Republic Of Loose, The Coral, Zutons, Audioslave. Could be the old crowd Oasis, Stone Roses, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Could be the classics then Beatles, Doors, Kinks, Rolling Stones, Who, Pink Floyd. With loadsa solo artists available to pick for transfers.

How about a version of Mortal Kombat featuring rock stars known to be tasty with their fists - Liam Gallagher, Jack White, Bjork ( remember the time she went medieval on some witless photographer ? ) Elvis, Jean Jacques Burnell from the Stranglers ( weren't they both into martial arts ? ) James Brown, Shawn Ryder etc.

I like the 5 a side idea, reminds me of what me and my sister used to do with the strategy/action game Worms. For those who have no idea what Worms is, all I can say is that it features worms, armed with bazookas, grenades, exploding sheep.... anyway, you could customize the teams so we had teams named after bands, so Bono, Larry, Adam and the Edge could be playing John, Paul, George and Ringo. Heres another idea: Gran Turismo - Pink Floyd Editon. You play as Pink Floyds drummer, Nick Mason, except instead of getting a garage full of exotic sportscars by winning races, you do it by releasing a live double album or box set every so often. (Nick Masons real life garage includes a Ferrari 250 GTO, F40 and 246 GTS Dino, Bugatti 35B, Alfa 2300 and a Maserati 250F)
