What's made me happy this Christmas?? Gary Jules and Michael Andrews beating The Darkness, Pop Idols & The Osbournes to No.1! Choke on it all o'ye! Yes i know its a cover, who cares - its great. Fits in perfectly with the ending of Donnie Darko... scanned the credits to find out if it was Michael Stipe or not (anyone else think that?)... the thing is with these songs, you kinda feel like "no, its my song - i found it! you cant commercialise it!" silly i know, but there you are.

I find that statement kind of ironically funny considering its already featured in a successful movie! Is it the UK or Irish charts where its reached number one? Its a great song and all and it beats all the christmas crap, but I really wish Today FMs Anne Marie Kelly wouldn't play it on early morning radio (6:00-7:00 AM). On these winter mornings when its dark and cold and you gotta get up at 6:00 AM its just too depressing! I can listen to it at any other time of the day, but at 6:00AM on a depressing winter morning, talk about overkill!

doesnt matter which charts - the beauty was it beat the hype and the sh1te that TOTP and Dr Fox (w@anker) would have you listen to. yes, it is UK-based charts but sure, its in your face every time you flick the channel so why not take a little enjoyment from this?! as for the "ironically funny" bit - that was my point, what silly emotions a really good tune can stir up in a body! only a great song can do that. then you hear it too much and it dies a bit each time, next thing its being covered by "dance to tipperary"!!!! Happy New Year everyone!

Makes for a crummy ringtone though, as anyone who uses public transport will attest..
