thought 'd resurrect this olden, yet golden thread:

moi? as its the day of my birth, many, many...many moons ago, the good lady wife (every day gets better) produced a couple of clinkers

brendan benson - my old familair friend...as ye were, a lovely record crammed with sweet melodies. even has a very 'spinal tap' guitar feel to kick start proceedings

beatles - 'white' album, remastered. indeed

The XX - xx - pretty interesting sort of Young Marble Giants make an R&B (in the modern sense) album
Mayer Hawthorne - A Strange arrangement. - an attempt at a classic soul record in 2009 that actually works and isn't a pants coffee table record.
Dennis Brown featuring Prince Jammy - Umoja/20th Century debwise - Dub Reggae
The Carter Family 1927 - 1934 - box set of the country legends earliest recordings.
Beck - Odelay - bit of mid 90s nostalgia.

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest. Nice album. Looking forward to seeing them and St Vincent play.
Bat For Lashes - Two Suns. Really like this. Give me her over Florence any day.
Final Fantasy - Has a Good Home / He Poos Clouds. Both class.
The Frames - Dance the Devil. Stumbled upon 'Seven Day Mile' for the first time in ages on shuffle yesterday. Amazing tune.
Autumn Owls - On the Trail of Dissapearing. Great EP, particularly Raindrops in the River.

Trust me: St Vincent will steal that show - you should check out her new album too.

I got around to Graham Coxon's latest solo album last week: I like it very much. Apart from that I'm up to my oxters in French stuff for reviews and the blog: plenty of cracking little singles and a fine album by General Elektriks.

Yes I recently got my hands on two St. Vincent albums including her newest, but have yet to give them much of a spin... just cause I havnt felt in the mood. I must give them more of a go in the run up to the gig. Yep I can remember recently reading a fairly unimpressed review of Grizzly live on here. Hopefully they'll up their game for Vicar St!

    Guilty as charged: www.cluas.com/indie-music/Gig_Revie...-Malo.aspx

But that was an outdoor festival: I suspect there'll be a better atmosphere indoors. In fact I'm going to see them and St Vincent again when their double bill hits Paris in November - they're playing a small old venue called La Cigale that'll suit their vibe a lot better.

Belle & Sebastian 'Tigermilk' (has been years since I last listened to it)
The Beatles 'Revolver' (but not the remastered version!)
TINARIWEN 'IMIDIWAN: COMPANIONS' (while I was initially a bit non-plussed about this it's really starting to get under my skin)
