Was just in music maker and walton's pricing usb/midi keyboards at lunch time. Went into music maker, they couldn't have been more helpful. The woman was explaining all the different options and addons and software available. Went to waltons, fecking useless shower. They were really rude and unhelpful. I went in had a quick look at the keyboards, went over the counter: "Excuse, I just wanted to ask about the keyboards?" "They're over there" "Um, Ok, I was just wondering what sort of price range they were?" (Sighs, has a look on her computer)"They start off at 75€" "OK, I was just wondering…." "WHAT?!" "Um, sorry, I was just wondering if the cheaper ones come with any software?" "Tch, I don't know" Seriously, with the way things are at the moment, how is an idiot like that holding on to a job? They're not really in a position to be that offhand with people. I think what's most annoying is that I was thinking "I'll try and support local business instead of using thomann". Has anyone else here found them to be equally as helpful or is it just me?

I'm only asking for him if he works in music maker. not going back to waltons, definitely not handing over my money to them. music equipment's expensive enough

A friend of mine had an (allegedly) bad experience with Music Maker (allegedly) - she left an amp in to be repaired and they sold it to another customer! (Allegedly.)

I've no experience with Walton's. However, I remember that Perfect Pitch, down the street from Music Maker, always had helpful and chilled-out staff. (Someone's now going to tell me they've closed down, or perhaps moved...)

I should point out that I was only going in there for very basic needs: plecs, capo, chatting up folk-group girls :)

Gotta say Im a bigger fan of Musician Ltd, atleast when buying guitars. Waltons sell way too many different instruments, which doesnt inspire confidence. Ive rarely experienced good customer service in there. Ive no complaints about Perfect Pitch either. Ive bought alot of equiptment in Music Maker of the years but Id rather give my business to Musician if I can.

Musician's changed its name now, sadly it's slipped through my mind what that name is. They always had the friendliest staff. Music Maker used to exclusively hire only jerks, but in the last two years they've been fairly friendly, except for one turdburglar who worked upstairs. Think he's gone now too. That story with the amp (allehedy) is shocking if true.

Never had a problem with Waltons, but never usually go in that much. The stock is always pricey and they never seem to have what I want.

I hate all those shops to be honest...I find them too intimidating...but that's just 'cause I'm a big coward (allegedly!)

Depends on who you get I suppose, although they should be blamed if they hired someone who cannot give good service. But I went into Waltons a few weeks ago looking for advice on selling a vintage guitar. They took the time to give me what advice they could and they went online to try and find out how much I should be asking for it. Given that there was no sale involved, I'd say that was pretty helpful.

Many times I've gone in there to play one of the guitars (or the out of tune pianos) and they haven't batted an eyelid. So I like Waltons.
