Great to see a bunch of lads getting made taking the piss. The saviours of rock they are not, but it's great to see people evidently having so much fun. One of the lads was at the HMV in store and apparantly after each guitar solo the guitarists high fived each other - think that's classic me... Give me a D! Give me an arkness! Was another one... I wouldn't buy the album though. Or go to a gig. Not my cupan tae.

It's pure spinal tap...they look like they are doing it fairly tongue in cheek (those videos couldn't be too serious!) but at the same time I do think they really are into the bands you'd imagine them being into...bonjovi, whitesnake and the like....oooo errrrrr! Although it's quite refreshing to see a band with a bit of a sense of humour instead of all the po-faced shoe gazing that goes on so much. The Darkness are into Lycra and no one is going to make them ashamed of it! ha ha ha. The songs are pretty catchy too (being a closet Lizzy fan I can't help that!) - But can they go the distance?

They have to be one of my favourite new bands at the moment - they may be taking the piss, it's definitely very tongue in cheek, but they just don't give a flying f*ck, and neither do I. The songs are fantastic, the videos are hill-ow-rius and they're putting the cock back in rock and I love 'em for it!

I'm sorry but I just don't see the attraction. I was never impressed with the likes of Def Lepard, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, David Lee Roth etc and band's like Queen and Thin Lizzy only ever held a marginal appeal for me. So it stands to reason that I wouldn't be impressed by a band who cites them as major influences. It just depends on individual tastes. I love Prince so I enjoy Har Mar Superstar. I'm a big Zepplin fan so I take great pleasure from the unintentional hilarity of Audioslave's Cochise. I even have a soft spot for Electric 6 and Tenacious D but I have to draw the line with the darkness. I just don't have a closet Spandex clad iron Maiden fan inside dying to get out.

"The Darkness are a novelty group like the Barron Knights... a cabaret act. They should be on at the Wigan Casino." - Lemmy Seriously, you've gotta love them! Of course, it'll all depend on whether they start believing their own hype. They are even releasing a Xmas single - it's like 1972 all over again.
