I'm not even gonna bother going into details - last night's show was dreadful. They could really do with pushing the boat out a bit more on this show... there's far too much acoustica and blues. A sprinkling of electronica would really inject something into the format.

Dark Room Notes are on next week - I only know their "Nicotine" tune, which is a decent song, if not a tad lacking in the editing dept (it'd make a perfect 3.5min pop tune)... so I'm looking forward to seeing them play.

Pity they never got Dan Deacon on for a session - he was outstandingly entertaining when he played in Sligo over Xmas.

Don't think Dan Deacon would work on a show like Other Voices. They could always black out the church and illuminate the tabernacle or something, though.

A bit of stage lighting & they could have anyone play, I reckon. I'd love to see the likes of LPX and Hoovers & Sledgehammers on the show.. great Irish artists who've been around a long time without ever really getting any media exposure.

Fergus O'Farrell's Interference were sublime last night. There is a such a purity to his voice that it sends shivers down my spine. Strangely, and rather ironically, the scene where he sings at the house party in 'Once' is my favourite part of the film. Another hit and miss show last night...can't listen to 'Falling Slowly' again...Ray Davies okay, nothing revelatory...Candie Payne excellent, great band with her....Jenny Huston is still smiling.
