.. Went to see Frank Black in Vicar St on Saturday... amazing the amount of people who showed up thinking they were going to see Frances Black play! He's using his Black Francis moniker these days, but even so! There was a tout selling tickets to punters in their 40s/50s for €30, then buying them back for €20 after the doormen had explained who exactly was playing.

Then I overheard a young girl (early 20s at most), upon seeing a couple in their 50's at the door, saying to her boyfriend that "they must've been into the Pixies when they started". The follies of youth!

No - I only heard about that at the gig. Fair play to him!

I felt sorry for the old dears, but still couldn't help smirking! The doormen were asking a lot of people "are you her for Frank Black or Francis Black?" - they offended quite a few people who were there for Frank Black... probably thinking "do I f**king look like a Fracis Black fan - I definitely need to stop wearing crappy tablecloth shirts tucked in to my slacks" !!

I remember something similar a few years ago, when everyones mother was enthrawled with 'Faith of our Fathers', alot of older folks bought tickets to see 'Sisters of Mercy' in the Point ... Ticketmaster had to ask a few questions on the phones.
