Hi all,
a passionate REM fan here delighted that they're coming back to play in Ireland again in July. Anyone going? Last year when Reveal was released, a couple of us tried to arrange a launch party for REM fans but we had to leave it go due to an apparent lack of interest. With a gig coming up in the summer, maybe more would be interested.
So we're looking to get people interested early. Any thoughts?

Marley Pk is a bit of a step down from slane tho and the tickets are going to cost about the same with inflation and all taken into account. Oh well at least the knackers wont have to travel so far this time to sell their strw hats and manky hotdogs

We might not see much more of REM in Ireland after this concert so it definitely sounds tempting. Pity there are only 15,000 tickets for sale. And all this while Westlife get to rip off pre-teens in Lansdowne Road. What kind of a world is this?!! Before we know it, the Polar Ice caps will be melting or something mad like that.

No, not really.I was at the Red Hot Chilli Peppers this year and The Walls & New Order were great, sundown or not. Slane is always a good whole day out. And besides, where would Witnness be if there was no atmosphere during the day? Granted an atmosphere might improve come nightfall, but I've always enjoyed myself during the day.

ah yes, festivals are different coz you can saunter around catching bits here and bits there - especially if its sunny - but yeah, the peppers was special alright although new order did nothing for me personally - i especially though peter hook's threats to 16year olds in between his status quo posing was sadness personified... :-o

One of my favourite gig memories was dancing like a lunatic (non too sober I might add!!) as the sun was full in the sky about 3pm in the day while the Lo-Fidelity Allstars were playing a crackin' set at Creamfields last year - Pure New Pleasure Seeking!!!
