    Yo Yo Y'all,

Anyone see any of the Heats for Murphy's Live? By all accounts, the bands were pretty good! The bands to make it through to the Semi-Final stage have been announced:

    The Chapters
    Superjimenez
    ilya k
    Philtre

Anyone know anything about these bands? I know of The Chapters & Superjimenez. Saw em at HWCH 06. Thought they were both very good, both rather dissimilar from what's out there at the moment. I like that!

Anyway...Hello, I'm Dolly - I was on this site loads until they changed it but then it looked like it got quite boring so I didn't bother with it. Seems to have picked up since so I'll give it another shot!

    Hey Dolly,

I was at the Dolan's gig, with Star Belgrade and Secret Police. Both good bands, both very different from each other, Star Belgrade were kinda INXS/electronic sounding while Secret Police had a more American sound to them. As I said both came across well but obviously not what the organisers were looking for to continue on, as none of them were picked for the next gigs.. Don't know much about the bands that got through, I've heard the names before though, must check them out..

The headline act at the Dolan's gig, Vesta Varro, were unbelievable though.. especially the bass player!! ;-)

*Strangegravy is in no way affliated with the band Vesta Varro and is definitely, definitely not the bass player! ;-)

INXS... wtf?!?!? I've read descriptions of us saying we sound like Massive Attack, Beck, Radiohead & U2, but INXS?!?!?! That's a new one on me!!! LOL! I suppose if Jackie Hayden reckoned we sound like a "murky Led Zeppelin", then I shouldn't be too suprised!!

Anyhow - I just found the post above on a google search & this is my 1st Cluas post.. really enjoyed that gig in Dolans - the Secret Police & Vesta boys were all sound as f**k.. and I've never met a friendlier crowd than I've met in Limerick. Same when we played the (now sadly demised) Boat Club - if they like you, they've no problems letting you know - Can't wait to play Limerick again.

    Well hello Starbelgrade..

ha, ha.. yeah, I deffo felt an electronic INXS kinda vibe going on down in Dolans that night, it's all good though, you came across very well that night I thought! Limerick crowd can be very good, especially when the music heads are in there's usually a great vibe in the venues, just a pity we're kinda starved for decent venues down here!

And if you want a strange description, we've (Vesta Varro) been likened in parts to Nine Inch Nails...!!?? I really, really don't see that one.. :-)

Ya - you can never account for what people will compare you to! I really can't hear NIN in yr tunes though.. bizzare one that!! I thought your set was excellent btw. Class album too.

As for Limerick venues.. Dolans was pretty class & the crowd that night were very cool. Tis a real pity that The Boat Club was forced to shut down - we played there last Xmas with Seneca & had a blast. Nice little informal venue of the type that really doesn't exist anymore these days.. I always love a bar that sells cans!
