What's the story with ND? It used to be it's eclecticism that made it so great but now it seems completely dedicated to acts in the electronica mode. Sure it may still be left of centre but that's not enough to stop it from being predictable and monotonous! It's not a tumor

In a way I kinda agree with you but at the same time it is still one of the best music shows on the box, and when you look at the competition (Top 30 Hits and, er, that's it..) you realise just how good it is that RTE are giving it a slot. I mean, where else would you get to see a Warlords of Pez video? But I do think Leagues is letting his own personal favourites to dominate a bit, but hey! that's showbusiness.

This just in from Hotpress.com: "Rumours ran riot today after a posting appeared on the hotpress.com messageboard, suggesting that No Disco was facing extermination in the face of financial problems at the national broadcaster. Hot Press contacted programme editor Rory Cobbe, who scotched the rumour. "The current situation as of today concerning the future of No Disco," reads the official statement, "is as follows. "Colm Crowley, the Head of Production in RTE Cork, has confirmed that due to the current financial situation in RTE, No Disco will be 'stood down' for three months after the current series finishes. The final show of this run is 29th May. "The programme will return in the Autumn after a revamp. "RTE continues to support the editorial team and content of 'No Disco' and will revamp the look of the programme for its return." The Hot Press Newsdesk

hmmm interesting...as far as i know it is Rory Cobbe who chooses the content...don't get me wrong it's a great show but my worry is that while ND exposes extreme left of centre acts and every other music show caters for the mainstream, what happens to the acts that are only slightly left of centre? Without this bridge surely ND in it's current format will crumble? It's not a tumor

no disco does seem to be lacking something of late.too much electronica/hiphop.while it is the best left of centre music show around, that really means nothing...........its the only one.
