It probably won't be Arctic Monkeys anyway. But does anyone have any good tips for the year ahead?

that arctic monkeys album is actually pretty fantastic - yer man's lyrics are brilliant. theres a song on it about a taxi journey ("Red Light On") which is just sheer genius.

In 2006 I will be mostly be listening to... Cat Power 'The Greatest' out shortly.... The peerless Mogwai's new album in March 'Mr.Beast', heard their new stuff at their gig in TBMC last saturday, utterly amazing. Apparently, Alan McGee has said he has never been so excited about an album since MBV's 'Loveless'....! Gulp! And new stuff from American Music Club and Massive Attack (hopefully!)

Was leaked on the interweb the week before last. Standard Mogwai album fare - 3/4 excellent songs and the rest are pretty mediocre. New Strokes album has also been leaked and pretty shockingly bad. One song is just "I've got nothing to say" over and over for about 3 minutes. Right so. New albums from Radiohead, Explosions in the Sky, Interpol and Bloc Party also due this year.

Looking forward to Beta Band frontman's solo effort under the King Biscuit moniker. Check out Paul Duncan, Be Careful What You Call Home. Brendan Benson and Jack White collaboration looks good. The Resonators they're calling themselves i think? Or maybe i have that arseways. And the usual stuff that i've been listening to since the dawn of my musical epihanies!

From Glenn To Glenn - I am getting really tired of seeing your name on every thread I come across and seeing that the point you make either ends the thread because it is pure rubbish or that the thread is forced to delve off into another direction about your stupidity. Why do you actually post threads and comments on this website? Am sure that its for the simple purpose of annoying other users, it certainly does not appear to be for the benefit of existing threads which are on going and that you assist the dialgoue with relevant responses. I know Moderators here have no problem with allowing the flow of chat and encourage people to talk about anything which is musically informative or even non musically relevant and they are VERY reluctant to interfere with threads but will do so if they (threads) continue to meander aimlessly, so I am hopefully going to speak for the majority of the users as a normal memeber of Cluas and ask you to either join in the threads where you are welcome or move somewhere else. If I am out of line here then am sure the Moderators will slap my wrists but I really cant remember a more annoying "new member" of Cluas.

Carlsberg...I'd just ignore him/her..like any attention deficit weilding child he/she'll get tired of not getting our desperately craven attention & wander back into the information super highway from whence it came. Ahem. Good call on Long Blondes..quite liking them at d mo.

Cat Power also for me, already gotten an honourable mention I see long blondes too, everyone here seems to be on the same wavelength which is a tad boring.... And I see good old fashioned forum snobbery is alive & well...Carlsberg just take a few deep breaths & let it go....life's too short, just cos someone's annoying you can't really get them moved or blocked or whatever action you deem appropriate OR CAN YOU ??? Is the fact this person is a "new member" relevant to the fact you find them annoying ??

I'll be listening to: Love Is All I'm From Barcelona Levy Nightmare Of You The Immediate Medea Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Plan B We Are Scientists Math & Physics Club The Oolahs Danko Jones and whatever Bloc Party come up with next I love Jenny Lewis' stuff. Cat Power's cover of Satisfaction is excellent too. LISTEN TO COHEED AND CAMBRIA - they're fantastic and play here in Feb. The BBC 'rising stars' list is always a good one to go by: here's the one for 2006: 1. Corinne Bailey Rae 2. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah 3. The Feeling 4. Plan B 5. Guillemots 6. Sway 7. Chris Brown 8. Marcos Hernandez 9. Kubb 10. The Automatic

yeah, I've been listening to them now and again for a bit - they don't seem to be hyped that much, but their stuff is really clever and refreshing.
