Hope he does a better job than his rather disinterested performance in The Olympia last time. Not that i was disappointed but it could've been so much better.

Have to agree with you there. He was hardly engaged. Although, the night I was there, some "hilarious" fella kept saying "Do summer of '69 Bryan" etc. a.

I'm a bit unsure whether to get tickets as he's about as reliable live as Badly Drawn Boy. Should I bother?

Well I would if I was around but yeah he is unreliable but you'll kick yourself if he puts in a great show which he is well capable of doing. Here's what he posted on the messageboard about upcoming Irish dates if you can make head or tail of it! i will do my all for ireland. i hope i get swept away and never return. what a charmer that place. oh me. i hope the gods are kind to us those gigs and they read like those great mysterys that end with a twist and a clatter and an ending fit for a perfect nap. and i hope i get to walk around some and see the sights. ya know, the ones with painful history dashed cross their eyes me oh my and i hope i stay in tune and the moon comes out just once and hits the water and i hope to never miss a pint but buy a few rounds for my pals. we just dont get the goos stuff back home and either way im game over on that. oh yeah, and i hope i find a galaga machine draped in a long succesion of drowzy blinders who knows the places best to walk and be unseen with carried away views and landmass parades stretched and brazed. hot or cold . that would be cool. or just regular old ireland will do. at this point any of it will be charming and sweopt up into hungry little arms. bless yr heart

Apparently he was awful at Lollapalooza-just went off into 10 minute jams on his own, while the crowd lost interest. On the other hand the only time I saw him before-he absolutely blew my mind-so think I will have to have faith and go for it myself

I saw him around about the Gold tour in the Ambassador. I actually thought he was pretty good. He had David Rawlings in the band, who's a great guitarist. Pretty short, if I remember right though. Didn't go past an hour and a half.

I saw him play a pretty bad show in the Olympia a few years back. He was very drunk and wasn't impressed with people shouting requests at him. But there were still moments in that gig where he showed what a great talent he is. Once he tames his attitude then I'm sure he is a great live performer. Despite the bad gig I witnessed and his poor reputation of performing live, I'm still really looking forward to this gig. Jesse Malin was superb supporting him that night actually. Wonder if he'll come back again or will it just be Neal Casal who supports.

Absoultely. Fabulous musician. He's married to Gillian Welch, right? The time before the time before he played in The Olympia was superb, apparently. Mate of mine went to see him and it was just RA, a piano and acoustic guitar. He practically had to be dragged off stage. He was, need i say, ossified. I think he's a really talented guy and has written some cracking songs. I hope he puts on a good show. I may give him one last chance live even though i stopped buying his records after "Rock 'n Roll." That was a clunker albeit not as bad as the critics said it was.

i saw him live a couple of years ago. He didn't play 1 song I knew (fair enough I hadn't got his new album at that stage). Still, surely you want to please your fans with a few of the more popular songs from the back catalogue. First and only time I heard an artist being boo'd when he went off stage. Having said all that, even though I didn't know the material I thought it was a great gig. I'll def check him out again.

Big fan of Jesse Malin... New album on the way for him. I reckon Pete Yorn is a better bet anyway..All 3 are good mate two quality studio albums and a double cd live album. New one out this week and all. now if we could only get him to play in dublin

Jesse was good alright, but not a patch on Ryan when you listen to the albums... Ryan is pretty up his arse alright - and so prolific it's hard to keep up. A modern day country/rock Prince? ais.

I think he's more head in the clouds than up his own arse...I have a mate from Sweden who's brother recorded with his producer. This producer told him matter of fact that Adams's was a functioning alcoholic & is pretty much f**ked all the time. That he's real down & has writer's block. That was bout a year or two ago, then he comes out with 3 albums in a row!

I presume everyone has heard the phone message where he gives out to a reviewer who slamed him?
