That's a bit harsh. You should be trying to support upcoming Irish acts not slating them before you have even heard the new song. Best of luck Polar with it.

Indeed. Best of luck to Polar. If South and the other stuff on their site is anything to go by it should be excellent. Also, love the links section on your site Mick to all the other acts that you guys are into.

good luck polar you'll need it cos if the bitchy bitter commentators on this forum are a reflection of the irish audience you'd probably be better leaving the country. god i cant understand the tag team negativity on this discussion board. if you don't like a band, then cool, we can't all like everything but why say anything if you can only offer negativity? had to get that off my chest. you've been a wonderful audience- thank you polar= good band/ any original band that gets off their arse and tries= good band (in my book)

man i think people are being a little harsh on polar. the singing is generally awful, i think a descision has to be made there! but the guitar riff and all the other playing on paper is brilliant! esp the first minute and a half! http://artists.cpu.ie//bands/31/

I was very unfortunate to witness Polar @ Whelans at the weekend, I have read a fair bit of hype about em in various boards etc. so we decieded to go along. The place was jammers so I though they'd be somewhat good but it turned quite the contrary, we left after 4 songs. Very average musicianship, allround, dreadful singing and a very un-original sound to boot. I'm sure I'll be shot down in flames for crictising an up-andcoming Irish act who are trying to make it but sorry, thats my opinion and as this is a music forum....

You're own opinion, Yeah ?!?, says I doing a pretty bad David Brent ! Was supposed to go on Friday, but lost track of time in the pub beforehand, So I cant comment on Polar. I've yet to see them, but Klootfan recommended them from experience. I've done the same with Jove myself. It leaves a bad feeling in the stomach when you're forced to leave early.

I saw Jove at the Hard Working Class Heroes festival back in whenever it was and was quite impressed, havent seen em since. The bottom line is that its all about opinions aint it...

Went into Road to get the single on Saturday Mick, but to no avail. Heard it since then though and I think it's brilliant. Both the songs and the video are top notch in my opinion. As a Polar fan though, I didn't enjoy the Whelans gig on Friday, but that was a lot to do with the over-talkative crowd and the poor sound (from where I was standing).

I found the talkative crowd at the gig very offputting indeed, whatever you think of an performer/performers I think its showing huge disrespect to talk through a performance. I have found this particularly bad at Whelans to the point where I have been motivated enough by it to confront the culprits on more than one occasion. FAO Mick : just wanted to say to you that you would have had every right to respond to my criticism of your gig on this forum by just calling me a stupid c**t or whatever and the fact that you did'nt speaks volumes for you so thanks. (not to say that you don't think I'm one ! ) I wasnt aware that any members of Polar were on these forums to be honest, had I done so I would have shown a more considered tone in airing my views. anyway maybe I'll catch you guys again under different circumstances ... everyone's entitled to an opinion man, i'm just glad you came along and disappointed (from our perspective) that we didnt impress, but as you said earlier its an opinion thing maybe our music isnt your thing or maybe we just didnt put it across right on the night... pity. anyway you should pick up the single... its great hehe
