    I've just listened to 'Neptune City' by Nicole Atkins for the first time today. Almost immediately, I listened to it for the second and third times.

    Wow.

    Spector-style '60s pop with a bluesy-country tint to it. She has a fantastic voice that soars like her songs do.

    Has she been noticed in Eire or anywhere else yet? If I'm years behind everyone else and totally uncool, I just don't care because this album is wonderful.

    Here's her single 'The Way It Is'. The chorus at 1:08 - who couldn't possibly be moved by that?

    I was at the Roskilde Festival in Denamrk and caught a couple of her songs in one of the tents- she's quite good

    Wow. Great find. Up to now she has never crossed my radar.

    According to her MySpace page she has no gigs planned in Europe. At the moment.

    Apart from Shakey (who I now envy venomously) seeing her at Roskilde, I have a suspicion she may have played in France, the Netherlands and Belgium ONLY LAST WEEK! And now gone back to the States! Forever! Thinking no one on the old continent likes her marvellous album! (I'm at work and dreaming of quittin' time so I can go home and listen to it again.) The dramatic irony of it!
