ANNOUNCE CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR THE MURPHY'S LIVE 2008 COMPETITION

On May 10th 2007 Dublin’s Village Venue hosted the final of the Murphy’s Live 2007 Band Competition.

The standard was high, the competition fierce and the Murphy’s flowing. Over the previous few months bands across the country had battled it out onstage for a music prize worth in excess of €10,000.

On-stage it was Waterford’s Ilya K versus Dublin’s The Chapters. Both displayed superb musicianship. The crowd bayed for their band. Kick ass riot rockers The Automatic played special guest with a storming set. Backstage, guitars were nervously strummed as the finalists waited for the decision. Guest judge Neil Hannon of Divine Comedy fame stepped on stage and announced the winner - Ilya K! Hands were shook, backs slapped and the debate began and continued long into the night.

If you missed out last year, now’s the time to become involved in Ireland’s biggest and best band competition – Murphy’s Live 2008. Think you’re in a band who can cut it live? They are then judged on their live performances at Murphy's Live heats in Dublin, Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Clonakilty and Waterford throughout January, February and March 2008.
