I thought they were really good last night even though most of the small crowd left after the chapters. Obviously, not many people know of Annuals yet or it could be the fact that it was a Monday night before Oxegen!

Just want to know if people know them and if so what do they think?

I saw them in London a few months back. I thought they were hugely mediocre.

Unicron - It is completely your choice not to like Annuals but lighten up. You're always giving out on this forum!

Hugely mediocre? Is that possible? Like average to the extreme? The world's most average band!

    Just sayin' is all....

Yeah. If someone asked me to name a band that was the epitome of mediocraty I'd likely say Annuals, if I could remember them.

Crucifixio, I'm just givin' my opinion is all.

i still don't know what to make of that gig! heard the album for the first time at work yesterday and was really into it but wasn't expecting how it translated on stage at all. it was a shame that lots of people left after the chapters, it seemed a bit weird having such an energetic band play to a handful of people. think the general consensus among us was "interesting" which is a total cop out but honestly i'd actually like to see them play again, with more knowledge of their songs and a better crowd. the drumming at the end was fantastic and there's enough there to indicate potentially impressive stuff from a band who are all clearly so young.

I agree totally. I really like the album - not the most mature of song-writing - but a good fun album with a lot of potential. I would like to see them again with a good crowd. I suppose it was all that could be expected for an unknown band on a Monday night before Oxegen.

I don't get the people leaving after Chapters thing. If you've paid for the ticket then at least stay to check them out.

Same thing happened to The National when they brought Clap Your Hands Say Yeah on tour with them just as pitchfork started raving about them. The gigs sold out but the National wound up playing to half empty rooms.

I agree. The tickets cost €16.50. While it's good to see The Chapters getting a good crowd (people were definitely not there to see the electric penguins, atrocious) why would you leave before the headline act.

I thought it was cool of the lead singer of the chapters to big-up Annuals and ask people to stay! He was one of the people who watched the whole gig while Dave Geraghty of Bell X1 talked through most of the gig and then left before the end.

At last years Picnic, Dave Geraghty was halfway through hugging me a "hello" when he realised I wasnt a member of BellX1 and he didnt know who the fook I was. I couldnt place him either til 10 mins later. Must still have a Salesian College aura about me.

saw them last November in Vicar Street supporting Flaming Lips, saw them again last night in Cork in the same support slot. I was far from impressed with them both times, haven't heard them on record but live they just seem to be a bit of a messy mix.
