I am alone when I wonder why Galway City (and county) doesnt seem to be producing good bands at the same rate as it capital cousin? Granted, we have a less dense (!) population but surely we should be able to pull together and produce some good indie rock that reflects the mindstate of us on the west side of the Shannon?

I've read countless interviews with artists (such as Snow Patrol, Fionn Regan I think) etc.) who have described Galway as a much more arty and inspiring city than Dublin so it stands to reason that good tunes should be flowing like Buckfast.

I'm a guitarist and songwriter (not to mention a terrible singer) whose looking to start a band with the view of shaking things up on the West coast. The original music scene is much healthier now than it was a year ago in my opinion (thanks in part to talented pioneering bands like Director, the Immediate etc...) so if you feel like accomplishing something then nows the time to capitalise.

My influences include the Libertines, Bloc Party, John Frusciante, the Little Ones, DCFC, Weezer, Velvet Underground, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Thermals, the Shins, Stone Roses.....the list is nigh on endless.

I don't think I'm alone in my views so if you're up for it, reply to this message.

Hey!! My name is Kevin and I play Bass and sing (sometimes well) Ive played in various bands over the years and although im still playing with bands Ive also set up my own kind of project thing and I would really like to have a cool guitarist and from the bands you mentioned id definetly be interested in meeting up with you and doing something. The only problem is I live and work in Clifden (small town 50 miles away) at the moment but im sure something can be figured out!! Please dont overlook me cos I too really wanna shake the s**t out of Galway and maybe start some sort of music scene again in there!!

Hey man - glad to hear Galway still has motivated musicians in its ranks!

Theres now a singer on board in the band and we've a few decent songs written that we'll be looking to record at the very start of summer. We have a few demos up on our myspace (www.myspace.com/theinvisiblerep) and the vocals to those will be added this week. Feel free to check them out.

You can contact me at: gearoid.k@gmail.com so we can talk more. It would be great too if you could send on a sample or two of your work so we can see what you could bring to the band.

I've been to Clifden a few times myself, but I don't think distance will be much of a problem!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
