I hate to say it about any band but they are crap! Full of gimmicks but nothing else. They will probably do well because they seem to have some backing (i.e. recorded their album with one of the Foo Fighters' producers).

Ive posted on these guys before. I know the band personally so of course i have a bias but here are the facts.

Adrian Bushby, producer of Foo Fighters, Feeder, Maccabes and a few other biggish bands agreed to produce their album, as far as i know, for next to nothing.

Hot Press are pushing them. Most of their reviewers and journalists have written good things about both their releases and their demos over the years.

RTE featured faye on the premiership.

Their radio release single Beau was one of the top played songs on Phantom for a few weeks.

They've been playlisted on USA, Canadian and Australian radio.

They were in the Irish top 20 for 3 weeks running with their first single.

Now im not saying that any of this means that they are going to change music as we know it but they certainly have something. And other people in the industry recognise it. I dont know who you are crucifixio but i would place more faith in the opinions of the above people than you. I think the faye myspace thing is a good way to create interest in the song and the band across the world. Just because it has attracted attention doesnt mean that they are "crap" and "just full of gimmicks". Do you not think that it is a novel idea and something to be commended?

Sure they mightnt be your cup of tea but music is totally personal and i would encourage other readers to check out their stuff and form their own opinions, not just on the basis of some anonymous poster on a message board.

Maybe I should have phrased it better but in my opinion they were very boring and very similar to thousands of other bands I have heard before. The fact that the bassist was wearing bug-eye googles and the lead singer looked like a ponce kind of confounded it for me.

I would just like to say that just because they are being pushed by all these magazines and radio stations, doesn't necessarily mean they are any good. Again, there are thousands of "artists" that are pushed onto the public like this that I could name but it doesn't make them any good.

Also, I seriously doubt that the people on this message board are going to revolt against Superjimenez just because I said so! Even though that would be funny!

i agree with you that them being pushed doesnt make them necessarily any good but it doesnt mean that what theyre doing is bad either. If you listen to their stuff can you not see that at least they have potential? Catchy lyrics, upbeat tempo, good melodies? And theyve only been together in the current line-up for a year and a half i think...

and you'd be surprised how influential message boards can be!

I'm not influenced by message boards. I think superjiminez are great and this crappy forum won't change me mind!. I have three of their songs and they're brilliant. Getting better with each play, latching on to a new little line somewhere or a harmony. Fresh, honest and I'm still annoyed they didn't win the murphys competition....boo

I heard that Superjimenez are about to sign a big record deal in the US with Geffen. Anyone know anything about that? If it's true, great for them. Also, while I'm here, check out a band called Travega. I think they've got some good stuff goin on! Although I am very wary of who I recommend these days on this particular forum...i've been shot down so many times, ouch!

Personally, I don't really see what the fuss is about with these guys, but I'm sure they'll do well. They seem to have to have their morkeshing down.

I dunno, there are some Irish unsigned bands that I LOVE at the moment (and up there with anything new internationally) - Ham Sandwich, Delorentos, Codes, Fight Like Apes, Stagger Lee - but I suppose because these guys aren't doing anything particularly new, and what they are doing is just ok really that it doesn't peak my interest.

That said, when you listen to so much new music constantly, a lot of it blurs, and it's sometimes hard to get excited about anything (apart from the bands I listed above.)

    lol @ Parton! funny s**t.

anyway, just wanted to post this link to the video for Beau. The more i watch this video the funnier it gets. But anyway, the reason for posting it is just to show that these guys are not the posers theyre made out to be here but, rather, just 4 lads playin some music and havin a laugh at the same time. Nice slow mo bap shot, the grape vomit, the bassist is loopy and theres other funny bits the more you look. Theyre just havin some fun.

I reiterate - Bland, Bland, Bland - although I do think that this is the the best video to come out of Ireland in a long time!

Haha! Totally agree Crux, it is a brill video! He's a comedian, isn't he!? In stitches everytime i see/hear that song!

Disagree about Super video though, think it's great.

But hey, I'm done tryin to defend those guys on this forum - and in any case it seems to me that Una and Crux have some sort of an agenda....

Maybe the goggles upset too many ppl?!

Superz if you ever read this - LOSE THE GOGGLES - unless you ever decide to play a private gig for me

PARTON - you are the only one here that seems to have an agenda. All you have done is attack Una and not mention anything about the topic! Very Interesting!
