Racism is obviously wrong but the impression Okereke (or at least the Guardian who reported it) first gave was that the racism came from the entourage (which Lydon surely can't be held accountable for) and the assault from Lydon.

Now however, it seems the racism ('your black attitude') was Lydon himself, though that could very easily have been 'your bad attitude' which would most certainly be true.

While I'm not defending Lydon (he's an odious little man) Okereke, for someone who always talks about how he hates talking about being black or gay, is the first person to play the race/sexuality [delete as appropriate] card when he thinks he's being criticised.

In summary: Racism is wrong, Lydon is an arsehole (be it a racist one or not) and while nobody deserves to be the victim of an assault, Kele Okereke is also a gobs**te of the highest calibre.

Should make for an interesting EP, with both Foals & Sex Pistols on the bill.

Okerele's gay? I was not aware of that.

Was anybody at oxegen around 4 years ago when he addressed the audience with "Its great to be back in the british isles"? That did not go down well... Not that I think he meant to insult anyone or anything.
I don't know though, After the debut bloc party album had ran its course for a year or so I just became very sick of his moany voice and I dont like the direction they went in for the second album (Though I would say they needed to do something different because in my opinion their sound became old very fast)

Anyway thats me on why he deserved it

I wounldn't fancy Lydon coming at me in a dark alley

If he said 'British Isles' then he is correct in what he said. Its a geographical term, like Scandinavia & Iberia.

The island of Ireland is one of the British Isles. Simple as.

He said 'Its great to be home' - so he was implying UK. And it went down like a ton of bricks. As did their set - they're really touch and go soundwise Live.

They're both dopes in my opinion but that kinda carry on from Lydon is just scumbag behaviour.

I would have had a modest amount of respect for Lydon until now, lets not forget that he did a fair bit of good stuff after the pistols too, after all thats what Okerele was approaching him about, he was asking about PIL reforming (allegedly) and according to reports, thats when he was attacked.

Now, I hate Bloc Party, dullards of the highest order, but just for a moment imagine it wasn't Okerele and just some random fan who got attacked. Wouldn't be acceptable would it? And when you think about it, Okerele was just approaching him as a fan.

Maybe. Though I'm sure that's what most people on the mainland call these islands...

Others around the world may know this region as the British Isles, but when it came to naming it we were never given a choice in the matter, being part of their wonderful empire. Maybe if we keep pointing out that we're not part of the UK it'll catch on!

Yawn, f**king yawn. None of us Southerners are old enough to remember - or quite frankly CARE - about anything about the 800 years of oppression we are supposedly never to forget about - unless you believed in your Sinn Fein look-a-like Secondary school Irish language & history teachers. The rest of us are just glad to have Sky Sports Premiership matches.

As for the Nordies, you got yer Catholics who think they're Irish & yer Proddies who think they're British. Neither of them are either. They are all just a load of Nordies who've been living together / apart for SO long that their culture & identity is totally unique. It's Nordie & that's it. Soon as they recognise that, the sooner they can get on with their lives & enjoy a bit of english twat on Bang Babes at 4 in the morning instead of worrying about the trivial things in life such as religion, politics & creed.

Tits are what's needed & more of them... the love of a good breast will calm the qualms of almost any man.
