Friday 27th of October 2006 from 7:30pm, The Ambassador Theatre – Rock It! UH Events presents Rock It featuring three of the most exciting live bands in Ireland for 1 night only! The featured bands are as follows: Ham Sandwich http://www.eathamsandwich.com Black Daisy http://www.blackdaisy.info Hipple Street http://www.hipplestreet.com Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.ie and all Ticketmaster outlets. There are a limited number of Under 18s tickets as the upper balcony will be a no-alcohol area. The ground floor of the venue will be Over 18s only and there will be alcohol available. Tickets cost Euro 15 plus Ticketmaster fees. For additional information, please visit the UH Events website: http://www.uhevents.com ------- I like Ham Sandwich, but how on earth could one even remotely fill the Ambassador with this line-up. Weird.

that might explain it, otherwise they wouldnt have a hope of filling it, especially when you consider for instance that there are still tickets on sale for the go team tonight in the olympia, a band with a much higher profile playing in a similar size venue.

I don't think it is a student bash really - it doesn't say anything like that on the site or on the press release. Kind Regards, Confused in Dublin

jove (now royseven) did it pretty successfully in the olympia, i'd say it was 3/4 full..... they had 6 acts, of higher profile than this and it was a one off.. this lineup is no different to an average radiator night in the hub, in that the acts are firmly of the "up and coming" variety.... it is very strange...

GUBU indeed. Presumably they had to fork out for the venue in advance. As someone else said I'd be pushed to bother going to Whelan's to see this line up. Never mind tracking down O'Connell Street.

must be for the kids mid-term Halloween break, probably advertising the hell out of it in schools.

It's gotta be for the kid's market. Have you seen the Black Daisy website!? These girls wanna raawwwkkk. Hipple Street's site, meanwhile features an endorsement from none other than Chris De Burgh: "what impressed me about Hipple Street was the abundance of talent". I haven't quite figured out if that's supposed to be ironic or not.

Jove were behind the Olympia gig though. Ham Sandwich are just playing this gig as opposed to putting it on themselves, this just looks like a promotor who is gonna take a hammering, just so long as the bands get paid then fair enough. Having said that I was told on Saturday night that 600 tickets have been sold for this gig, unless it's all to kids I find it hard to believe. I've never heard of either of the other 2 bands.

Nah thats definitly aint the case but as far as i know the age restriction is very low and it is aimed at the under 18's market. Pretty cool if it gets some younger kids into live music early on but yeah - def a strange one!
