Is anyone selling a standing ticket for Steve Earle this coming Monday? I'll pay up to 50 euro as long as it is standing. Ticketmaster only have Upper Circle left but I want to see the gig and hopefully review it for Cluas. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Gar, Just seen your post. I would advise that you get a restricted view ticket at 34.50 and just hang around at the entrance to the stalls bar during the gig. best Jules By the way, if you don't manage to get in, I'll do the reviewing duties for Cluas

Steve Earle was just interviewed on Pat Kenny's radio show. Interesting stuff and he played a great version of 'Copperhead Road'. Cheers Jules for earlier comments, but I've had bad experiences with d**khead security in the Olympia before. Same thing happened that I was in the Upper Circle and couldn't even see the stage. But again I stress that if anyone is selling a decent ticket for tonight, I am very eager to buy it.....email me at gazmaher@hotmail.com

Gar, looking forward to reading your review of this, even though i was up the back beside the sound desk, thought it was an excellent show. The first few numbers were a bit unsettled, he seemed like he really got into it after 20 minutes or so. I missed fearless heart and johnny come lately but you cant have it all! A friend whose opinion of music I hold in higher regard than most journalists and broadcasters etc (excluding yourself Gar!) reckons that he is the most important political lyricist since Dylan. It must be stated that the friend in question is pretty ignorant of rap. All in all though, after last night I am inclined to agree with the statement. (Oh and I want to marry Alison Moorer!)

Cheers Mutch. Nice to know someone respects my musical opinion(s) and that its not just me and my ever-growing collection. But I didn't make it along to the Steve Earle gig. A friend of mine had to be taken to hosiptal so the closet I got was listening to 'Just An American Boy' on my ipod in the waiting room. My friend is ok but that's Dr. John and now Steve Earle I've both missed this year About Steve Earle being the modern age political lyricist, good point. Obviously Dylan was the big one, after Woody Guthrie of course. But Earle has always been writing powerful songs so I guess you could label him that. Although with some of the things he says, I think he's a bit too parnoid at times. Nevertheless one of the best in the business. Hopefully, Rev Jules will write a review.

As far as I'm aware Steve Earle will be performing as part of the new series of Other Voices. Wasn't that programme meant to highlight the talent of upcoming Irish artists. Well I'm not complaining if Earle pops up with some cracking tracks.
