Hi again OPTIMUS: Your grand, it was cheesy! Not meant that way but it was! MUTCH will agree. OPTIMUS: If you have had bad experience within the Industry so to speak, I say "so to speak" of the Industry as I believe that word is debatable when it comes to Ireland, however if you have had bad experiecnes then they are probably justified, it does spit you out when swallowed... I just wont be letting that happen to me, or this band. No offence taken and I was not being thick with ya upon replying. All good man. Am glad you would support it. I expect to have some news on this very soon as to who the headline act is & additional groups playing. KERB i got that thank you. Will be in touch tomorrow.

"And yes, KERB,I have been part of the industry. I've been chewed up and spat out by the f*cking industry, so dont tell me how it works. I didnt give up. I kept going and it got me f*ck all. So dont lecture me on the politics of the industry" OPTIMUS: I think i my quote said "if you have any knowledge of the industry you will know how hard it is to get yourself out there and the post is right, you do have to just do it" so i didnt mean to come across as lecturing you. Anyway, its going ahead and the bill is superb from what we hear so will let Carlsberg do the rest as we have already spoken. Best to all and get out there when its announced and have a great night

Am new to all this but this is post is intriguing. Firstly, why would you feel the need to do something like this? Apart from being a massive financial burden on you which am sure it is, is it not something that will come to you in time & that you should wait for? Are there not venues that you could play and easily fill without the need to take on the Olympia? How ambitious is that to think you could fill the Olympia? Then again, what if you waited? Are you trying to tell the Irish Music industry that you wont wait and that your going to try and do something, lets say, beyond the norm? I dont think this is like the "play the point" thing.. i think this is more of a statement, and a pretty big one at that...What if you do fill the Olympia!!? Would it be good for the Irish music scene?... I think it would actually. Why? No idea but i do believe it would be good. I think its arrogant, but maybe your not arrogant, I think is selfish to expect it to be supported but maybe you dont just expect it to be & maybe you know you will have to "show us the goods" as in the music before we go. However, I think its F*****G brilliant and am looking forward to whenever you announce it. Ambitious, confident, arrogant... but heartfelt..... well impressed! Just the thoughts of a new member!

Unfortunately, as it stands, just playing places like Eamon Dorans, The Temple Bar Music Centre et al. You need to hit big places. Get you name in lights at the places and invite all the A & R meat bodies you can. Waiting for it to happen and ticking over in small venues doesnt work anymore. It mighta done in the 70's and late 80's, but people have themselves become more arrogant. So in order to make it, you need to stand out to them the most. Good point though.

Fair enough. Maybe they manage to fill the olympia. Good luck to them if they do and I think they might. But what next ? Its a giant step forward but how do you manage to keep the momentum going to prevent an equally giant step backwards ?

anyone know who they are by the way? Or any ideas? Klootfan, where do you go from there? Your right... I would wonder though, they must be good at least if they think they can pull this off right? I mean you would know if you had music to connect with an audience of that size that you had better be spot on or else your going to burn? Optimus, isn't it a sad state when you gotta do something as impressive as it is? Cheers guys

Klootfan, The next step is to throw ethics out the window. You can have records and cd's pressed on the cheap from the foreign market. Produce an EP or 2. Get em sold and keep the finances going. We all know that unsigned bands dont get THAT much revenue from ticket sales. So keep the band ticking over via other means. Jesus, even sponsorship can help. You think people thank instrument companies in the liner notes because they like the brand? Their sponsored by the companies. Keep the band ticking over with cash, push yourself as much as you can. You've got to spend money to get noticed. And finally, be original. We've got enough Coldplays and Keanes...Be original. Make some GOOD music.

its funny how kerb wrote two different posts from two different perspectives. its funny how many 'new' members there is on this praising the original poster. its funny how carlsberg posted a gig about Jove on another thread. its all funny.

I think part of the satisfaction of doing something ambitious as an unsigned act or organisation is watchin the rage building in the green eyed spazo contingent on every web board, they go nuts and cant wait to share their oh so informed regurgitated wisdom out for all to see ....its hilarious .....look ya pack of f**ks if ya dont like it dont support it , why go out of your way to sound like a spanner and tell the world how crap and pointless everything is? (Thats rhetorical ( i.e does not require a response)...resist the urge to Splurge) Anyway G'luk with it all Carlsberg hope its as worthwhile and as genuine as it sounds..... In my opinion ya shouldnt have changed your post, you shouldn't curb your enthusiasm for any of the begrudging f**ks anywhere...do ya think they're gonna support ya anyway???? They wouldnt know how!. Now back to reading Naomi Klein, my asparagus sandwich, honey and hint of morning dew tea, I'l' see you guys in Coffee Society later and we can share a mocha latte esspresso delux in a John Rocha terracotta mug.

As i opened my reply in the "gig announcements" concerning a gig in Crawdaddy, i open with similiar statement here. "Can we all chill out a little"!!. VANDALA: If your only contribution to this post is to call it "self indulgent" then please dont post here anymore as its not really getting anywhere. Either voice an opinion, be it pro or against or dont voice anything. Am not trying to quell your freedom of speech but that reply really didnt need to be said. I cant answer something which is called "self indulgent" and in fairness i think i have let the topic flow, have not tried to reignite it, spoken only when i felt i really needed to & let people do the reigniting, and it shows, its still here nearly 2 weeks later. The whole purpose of placing this post up was to get peoples reaction and if you want to blame someone for it still being topical blame "thirdplace"! He started it again! (Sorry thirdplace!) KIERRY: Stop with the conspiracy theories.. I, through this post, now have spoken to KIRB and he is vocal in his support. We dont sit together and line up the answers & i dont rejoin under new names... There is one person posting for this event and thats me, the rest is mostly brilliant feedback... heated, but brilliant. OPTIMUS: It was cheesy wasn't it!! But you do write good stuff and its honest and open and fair play, thats all we want. TRIGGER: Welcome to cluas and i am still pissing myself laughing from your first reply on the subject, i get what you mean, really i do. Listen guys in order to maybe take the post away from those who are annyoed about it, maybe start emailing me.. have received alot on email but Optimus, Mutch, Trigger, Klootfan(thanks for signing up!!)Thethirdplace,(kerb already knows all, ok conspiracy theorists)spurtacus etc and anyone i have forgotten, redelephantmusic@yahoo.co.uk and i can start to fill you in if you wish. Sorry if the post has made people mad!

i is mad!!! You blamed me for reigniting your post! I hate getting blamed for anything. It was worth reigniting Carlsberg. As trigger says, F*** the begrudgers. Valid objections are that, valid, objections like" your self indulgent" are that, self indulgent. Someone earlier in the post warned you there might be a little bit of jealousy.... its creeping in. I signed up too and emailed ya..
