Out of curiosity from all the praise it's been getting in the UK and Irish media, I've been listening to Madness's new album, 'The Liberty of Norton Fulgate'. I like it, though it strains a bit to be the Sgt Pepper/Penny Lane of its genre and city. (In particular, the title track that ends the album is a clear tilt at 'A Day In The Life'). If you're not into music of West Indies extraction then you might find it dragging a little by half-time, but otherwise it's quite rich in detail. if you know and love London then I imagine you'll get a real thrill from this album.

Here's the rather flat single, 'Forever Young', live on Jools Holland's show:

I've digging a bit into the back catalgoue. The recently released remastered version of The Beatle's Abbey Road (is it way better than the unmastered version? Couldn't tell you as I never heard the album before from start to finish, probably something you're not supposed to admit, but - hey - who cares). Anyways I'm loving it. And my 2 year old is loving Octopuss' Garden'. That alone has been worth the price of the CD.

Also listening quite a bit to Hugh Maskela's 1998 album 'Black to the Future'. Some glorious trumpet playing on it, although the odd track has some dodgy 1980 style synths. Here's 'Chileshe' from the album:

Ian Brown - My Way...turning out to be an unexpected gem. Didnt think he still had the hunger

Williard Grant - Paper Cover Stones, the big guy is back to his best. Maybe hasnt hit the highs of The Ballad of John Parker and Christmas in Nevada in my opinion, but always nice to listen to

And listening to a couple of hyped bands also, both of which I am enjoying:

[b] Chase & Status feat. Plan B - End Credits
It's hip-hop, not really what I'd usually listen to but I've fallen in love with this song. The video's great aswell!

[b] Biffy Clyro - The Captain
I love this track, I can't wait for Only Revolutions. I love Biffy, they always seem to get progressively better.
