I know the country is awash with festivals, but if any of you are at a loose end next weekend (Sat 25th July) is Glasgowbury 09. Stephen has already mentioned the likes of ASIWYFA and General Fiasco in his Oxegen 09 review and blog. Almost 60 acts will play across 4 stages on top of the Sperrin mountains in Co Derry. No setting for a festival comes near. www.glasgowbury.com for more info

And don't forget to check out Sig's review of Glasgowbury 2008 to get a proper flavour for the festival!

    PQ,

Have you gotten a ticket for this already?  Do you want me to see if I can get a media pass so you can review it again?

email me via keynotes if you like.

    Steve

Excuse me for being all cynical and 'morketing' but Glasgowbury is a terrible name for this festival. It makes me think the festival is in Glasgow and so as an Irish punter I've no real curiosity to check out the line-up. Regional festivals should give some sense of place, should sell the location as something to attract punters.

(I appreciate that the organiser's name is Glasgow, but still not a good reason.)

I hear what your saying. I wouldnt be the biggest fan of the name, but it was born during a drunken session and stuck. Its a bit misleading alright for those unlucky enough not to live in the North-West.

I mean, he could have called it 'Derrybury'. Though I suppose there's no shame in being conceived during a drunken session.
