I was out digging the garden the other day, while my neighbour was out sitting in the sun, having a few beers. Fair play to him - I'd have liked to be doing the same thing, but the ground won't dig itself. To make matters worse, he was blasting the "Best of Bon Jovi" at full blast from the house. Surely there must be a law against this sort of carry on?

Ha, ha.. I got their "New Jersey" album off an ex when I was 15.. I think it's still there somewhere, must stick it on full blast at the weekend while I'm out attacking my swamp of a back garden with a pitch fork!

But seriously though, I blame Ray Foley!

Ah, Ireland & it's lovely collection of swampy gardens - I feel your pain! A good tip is to spread a layer of fine sand over the lawn - it will sink into the ground after a while & help with the drainage. When they build golf courses in Ireland, they often add a layer of sand under the top soil for the same reason.

And play Bon Jovi while you're doing it - your neighbours will love you!
