I think I shall be hauling ass to see Kathleen Edwards in The Shelter on Monday night. Was a tough call with Evan Dando and Yo La Tengo on the same night but I have seen the other two before. By the by, eddiesheridan, tell me more of Jinx Lennon. I was at the Ruby Sessions a few weeks ago and when it was announced he was playing the following week, a murmur of laugher rippled through those who know and the words "Must see" were mentioned. What's his/her/their bag?

Went to see Beck last night - really good...he did a bit of that Prince cover and a couple of bars of Cry me a River for the buzz - he was actually very funny. It was a lovely sight to see him at an old saloon-type piano in his navahoe boots tinkling away singing his poor broken little heart out. The stuff off Sea Changes was good - fair balls to him, he came out on his own and held the crowd from the start. He played loser and devils haircut which was cool and some stuff off Midnight Vultures on some drum pad/sampler thing - For some reason he kept playing bits of Tom Petty tunes...I hate Tom Petty - he was talking about when he played Witnness too (two years ago) when the crowd started going bananas and every second person was doing a human pyramid and setting fire to stuff. it was a bit more sober last night. Going to see Moloko and Groove Armada on Saturday and Electric 6 on Sunday hopefully - Did anyone go to see The Shalabi Effect or Estel in Voodoo last night?

Dromed, Why don't you write a review of the Beck gig for the website? Let me know what you think of the idea. Leggin' it. eoghan Eoghan O'Neill Editor, Webmaster & all that www.CLUAS.com - lending an ear to the Irish Music Scene

Eoghan I meant to write a review for you after I saw Interpol in Paris ( see I'm always thinking of you!) I even robbed a setlist off the soundman to send you and then I succumed to my near-fatal laziness and never got 'round to it. I ended up talking to a mate I hadn't seen in ages for a while at Beck so couldn't really review the content of the gig, in other words I wasn't paying enough attention. But I'll try do one for Groove Armada/Moloko and Electric 6 after the weekend if ya like.

Yep - interesting alright - Liked Alias Glee - Estel were real good and were the best on on the night I thought - but I'm a sucker for theremins like. Didn't really get into Shalabi Effect I have to say - though they did grow on me as the night went on. Jeebus but they used violin bows a lot...
